I'm staring my new vest, and it's going to be all Black Metal. I don't think it would good with a collar, but I don't know if I should cut it off or not.

I think it depends on how many patches you're going to put on it. If you're going to fill it up completely, cut the collar so none of the patches are covered. If not, I say keep it. My black metal vest still has the collar.

I usually see a black metal vest as a leather vest which usually doesn't have a collar but I guess with denim it really all would depend on the vest/patches
My opinion is that if you are going to wear it with over a leather jacket, then you can cut off the collar. If you're going to wear it over a t-shirt, then keep the collar. Basically the reason for cutting the collar is so it fits better when wearing it over the leather cuz otherwise it interferes with the leather's own collar.
