Suicidal Fiend
Sat, 12/11/2016 - 06:14

is it cool to upload band merch from other genre's of music like reggae, rap, pop etc...what are your thoughts?

bad_american1992's picture

You listen to pop music?

Suicidal Fiend's picture

sometimes depending if its good, same goes for other genres
how about you

Daniel Sodomaniac's picture

I don`t need anything else than Metal and Rock so i vote NO :)!

Suicidal Fiend's picture

right on man! I respect that, for me I'd say yes but with the exception that its oldschool no 5 seconds of summer, brittany spears, blood on the dancefloor crap

Nater90's picture

No because it's a Metal/Rock/Punk based site.

PatchThePlanet's picture

+1 keep it metal

Into Glory Ride's picture

I also vote "No" . Not because i dislike them per se (listen to some very carefully chosen Rap, and even some Pop Music - i despise Reggae though, haha), but because it gets too random then and first and foremost this is a Metal and related site.

VoodooChild's picture

Depends to me but I would lean to no but don't mind it when its really special to someone.

A tourshirt from a reggeaband you like is seriously 100000x more acceptable to me than a pair of dirty shoes

NISSE666's picture

I say Metal/Punk/Hardcore/Rock only!

Demon lech's picture

Thanks for mention of Hardcore ;)

: )=

I think with Dr. No (hohoho) the decision is made anyway. ;)

bad_american1992's picture

Haha!

andermatten's picture

of course, just not on this site.

Bayernpirat's picture

there are a few exceptions for me in cause of Rap like Public Enemy and Body Count,

Bayernpirat's picture

otherwise I would say no if it´s not Metal/Punk/Rock or Johnny Cash

andermatten's picture

aaaahh but BODYCOUNT is a completely different question my dear friend Bayernpirat...I like quite a lot of (80s/90s) rap too, but BODYCOUNT, what can I say...it's not as if one would listen to a hooty & the blowfish album :)

thenagain, and maybe to DoctorDeath too, what would you think about the Judgement Night soundtrack? e.g. Onyx & Biohazard...if I'd ever find such a shirt I'd face a difficult decision whether to upload it or not

judascrust's picture

As much as I love the idea of breaking rules, posting non-metal/rock related shirts or merch kinda defeats the whole purpose of this site

dubtribe's picture

No !

NocturnalOccultist's picture

this question sucks! uuhuhuhuhuh

nameless_rites's picture

I kinda hate it when people put tons of alternative rock, punk etc stuff on here - unless its something tangentially connected to metal like a Misfits shirt or something. I uploaded one non metal shirt (Skinny Puppy) because they used the same Dore engraving from an Emperor shirt, but thats all. I have some Godspeed You Black Emperor, Coil, Swans, Sigur Ros, Dead Can Dance etc merch but I leave it off the site.

Stathis's picture

Judging by the comments/ratings/views on non-metal related items here, I would say most of those items are being ignored, so why bother posting them in the 1st place? I know, I don't waste my time with other music genres merch...
Besides, this is a site for people to show their metal collections and not their rap/pop shirts/sneakers/pj's or any other irrelevant item they think is cool.

PS: Don't give me the stupid crap that some genres influenced heavy metal. Yea, I know the early metal bands were influenced by blues and punk influenced nwobhm and thrash etc. So what? Those genres were influenced by something else and so on. What's next? Are we gonna post the mammoth tasks that cavemen used to play music with, because 100,000 years later they indirectly influenced heavy metal?? Is it so fucking hard for some people to stay on topic?

Into Glory Ride's picture

Agreed, man. Fully signed. It comes always to the question then, where to draw the line.

formezzano's picture

There are other places for that kind of music,I don't mean that it sucks or whatever but this site is about metal,is it that hard to understand?

so my answer is NO

nexus6's picture

I find this topic pretty interesting because I have uploaded a number of things that are most definitely outside the realms of rock/metal genres represented here. If anyone had a problem with it, id happily take the upload down. I have stuff up on here from Aphex Twin, the soundtracks for Terminator 2 and Blade Runner, for example. So far no-one seems to have had an issue with it but I always wonder whether I am breaching any hard rules here.

Vombatus's picture

I think it should generally be only metal (duh) but there are exceptions. Like Tenhi, King Dude or Chelsea Wolfe. Not metal, but related enough through band members, labels, events they play, etc... to be accepted (there are quite a few uploads btw!). Just use common sense to know if it relates in some way to metal.

Kapalika's picture

I tend to ignore stuff I am not interested in (pop, hiphop etc) so no big deal if people upload that, some movie merch might be nice to see but... on the other hand - why dilute this site with other crap for the sake of "diversity"?
Due to my laziness I haven´t uploaded my metal shirts, having to photograph my postindustrial/angstpop/whatever merch would make me postpone taking pics of my stash even more, hahaha!

Just my two cents, have a nice evening, guys and guysettes.

Cosmoblaze's picture

Well I upload a lot of my hard rock merchandise here.

I don't really care if I see non - metal/rock stuff here; Besides, the only pop merch I've seen on Tshirtslayer is Depeche Midd.
