AC/DC My 'Donington 1984-90' jacket

I went to the Monsters of Rock fetival at Donington in 1984, 86, 87, 88 and 90. Some of the best days of my life -and this is my humble tribute to what was, in my opinion, the best metal festival of all time!!

This jacket has patches for every band I saw there. (I got some of the patches back in the day, and for the others, where possible I got patches that were made the same year. One - the 1986 'poster patch' - was impossible to find - if indeed it ever existed, so I had to have that one made up especially.

Not for sale or trade

Year: 1984

I've thought about making one for the M3 festival that I've attended all 5 years. This is the inspiration that I needed. This is awesome. Total respect for your work.

Dammit you got to see Whitesnake! What pin is that on your right breast pocket?

5
AdrianKitchen's picture

Hi. All pins are 'Monsters of Rock' pins from the 80s. Front left to right, the first two are the 'MOnster' from the 1987 poster (Bon Jovi headlined). On the other pocket, there's the Whitesnake Monster (the ame as the backpatch on this jacket) and there's a 'Raw' magazine pin which came with a free issue of the mag that was distributed at the festival. You've maybe seen this Whitsenake concert (It's the one on 'L:ive at Donington 1990', recently released. A good gig.

Really great jacket mate. You say that you had the patches based on the Monsters Of Rock Posters made, can you tell me where you got them done, because I'd really like to get the 1984 (AC/DC, Van Halen, Ozzy) one on the front top of your jacket, as I have that poster on my wall !!

HI there. Thanks for your comments!! Actually, the 1984 Donington (were you there too?) isn't one of the patches I had specially made (printed). This was a patch which is woven and was made back in the day, so it's really hard to find nowadays, but they do pop up on eBay from time to time (that's w3here I found two of the three). If I were you, i'd just keep looking rather than try and have one specially made. (The one I had made is the 1986 event poster (taken from the front of the official programme) and a the 1988 one next to it. Cheers
