Iron Maiden Dedication Battle Vest - Bootleg version (nr. 1)

This is my first jacket I finished, my Maiden dedication vest πŸ€˜πŸ˜„πŸ€˜ I only used bootleg patches, but used the official modern back patch for this one. I will probable add some studs, pins, and spikes to this one at a later stage.
When I started this vest I really couldn't choose which back patch to pick. It was my girlfriend who came up with the clever idea to use Velcro so that I can change the back patch when ever I want 🀘😁🀘 It works really well and can recommend it to everybody who can't choose their back patch. Not recommended for vintage patches though πŸ€ͺ

ehehehehehe, that Velcro style is the nuts, I like it!

😁 It works really well man. Especially going to a festival this is really nice. You take one vest, a few back patches, and you can alter your vest to support your favorite band that day πŸ€˜πŸ˜„πŸ€˜
I used some stitching glue to glue the hard Velcro part to the vest, and reinforced it by sewing (which is a terribly hard job πŸ˜…). The soft part is glued on the patch.

Cool

Thanks mate! I decided to go for bootleg patches only because I also made myself a classic patch vest. Still there are some more Maiden dedication vests in the pipeline, all having a different kind of patches/theme.

It was my girlfriend her idea and I was amazed by the idea as well πŸ˜…

Love your idea of using velcro!

@Mechanicalsympathy
I'm to old for the pit anyway πŸ€ͺ On the other hand, I'm not too concerned about a $7 back patch. Also, when you have all 4 sides 'Velcro-ed' like on my vest it is not so easy to remove. I would definitely feel it if someone attempts it.
We Heavy Metal Maniacs should also not mess each other up by stealing jackets, patches and whatever more. πŸ€˜πŸ˜„πŸ€˜

That is a valid point. I suppose it would depend on the type of velcro you use. Industrial velcro such as ALFA-LOK would be very safe I think.

Velcro is works because of friction, so you can simply add more Velcro to secure it. In my opinion all 4 sides is sufficient, but you can add two diagonal strips to be even more sure.

Thanks man! When I was a kid I had Velcro to close my shoes, but once I figured out how to tie my shoes I completely forgot about the conveniences of Velcro. Now 30+ years later rediscovered it's awesomeness πŸ€˜πŸ˜„πŸ€˜

Great vest, man! The velcro is an awesome idea!

Thanks man! Thee gluing on with the stitching glue is easy but it can detach around the edges. Therefore I glued them one, and then sewed them tight so that they can never come off. It was one of the worst things I had to do on a jacket . You not only have to get through the denim, but also through a hard piece of plastic and glue. The needle becomes a bit sticky which makes sewing even more difficult πŸ˜‘ It was worth it though πŸ€ͺ
It also goes easier with Death metal blasting through the speakers while sewing it on 🀘πŸ€ͺ🀘

Wow, that's a lot of work! It was not easy to do it, but now you have something unique. Cheers!

It works for me and it took some effort, but it is very convenient when you go to a festival. I have one vest (not uploaded yet) which also has the Velcro and I took it to Graspop Metal Meeting. When Maiden was headlining I put my Trooper back patch, and the next day for Judas Priest I was wearing the Screaming for Vengeance back patch πŸ€˜πŸ˜†πŸ€˜
I used stitching glue but maybe superglue is more efficient and doesn't require sewing on the Velcro.

It must be super cool to do it on festivals haha maybe I'll do that later, if I make another vest.

Another great kutte. Those are some great bootlegs! I've seen other people do velcro for the backpatch, so it's definitely a viable option.

Thanks Blitz! You are really making my morning great! I woke up and got 5 super nice compliments from you on my vests and jackets. Thanks man πŸ€˜πŸ˜„πŸ€˜
I've never seen the Velcro, but I didn't have the illusion I was the first either πŸ˜„ Velcro is super convenient, but would only do this with the 'cheap' modern back patches. I will never do this with the vintage beauties that I have.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: you can never have enough Maiden! Great work booking the use of bootleg patches, there are some beautiful ones out there. 🀘

Thanks man. Easy to make and a modular vest. Saves you lot of hesitation what back patch to use πŸ˜…
