I love the temples of offal, definitely one of the most extreme dm releases I've heard....
Have you heard the "origin and magick" cd with the old pre-absu demos from dolmen and magus? Those tracks from magus are right up there with the temples of offal, punishingly heavy and the sickest, most disgusting sewer-puking vocals around! True brutality!
No, I haven't really listened to that compilation. I've heard OF it though. I may have to buy the vinyl release from the Crypt one of these days in order to expand my Absu collection. And yeah, Temples of Offal is pretty foul sounding. For me, Absu's greatest era lasted from 1994 until the band went on hiatus starting in 2002. This is still an excellent demo from the band's pre-Proscriptor, pre-Thrash\Black Metal days.
I agree with you, sun of tiphareth thru Tara was their golden Era for me... and I highly recommend the origin & magick compilation, the dolmen stuff is more black/thrash stuff, but the magus tracks are what sold me on that comp, they are absolutely vile in their extremity, very very heavy shit!
Oh and I think you'll be pleased to know I should be able to make it out to see absu when they come to boston next month, I'm psyched to finally have a chance to see them, I will definitely let you know how the show went!

Did you just purchase it at Dark Descent? Didn't know that this design was reprinted. Any back print?
Joel on
Yeah, I just ordered it directly from Dark Descent and no, there's no back print.
