Yup...it was unexpected. He also listened to Sepultura chaos ad and Necrocannibal...I will have a deep look into my stuff...maybe i still jave it somewhere...lets see
Oh, Necrocannibal... a name I haven't heard in a long time. This band proved, that russian bands can write death metal, that equal to european/US material. They had good songwriting, great vocals and lyrics, and most important - high quality sound and production.
YeA! Necrocannibal were the thing back in the day. I have their first and last album, I think, on tape too. Still looking for Pantera. Just uncovered many other tapes. Parafise Lost Draconian Times. Damn. Those were the days.
Also there were some other bands like Death Vomit, but they are not even close to Necrocannibal.
And the tape, it must pretty rare, if it firstpress.
The time when you "newcomer", and finding out new music is always more special and has more colors to it, then when you opening something new as experienced. About Draconian Times, one of the best Paradise Lost albums, my favorite is Gothic, and Draconian goes straight after it. I've got a SE collector's box of Draconian Times, pretty dope edition.
Back wgen these albums came out tape was all I coukd afford. CD's and players cost a fortune. So one of us would buy it and everyone else would copy. I did some buying back then. Those were the days of sitting and copying. There is also Zelator from the 90's. Kind of slower Death Metal. Somehow I missed Death Vomit. Will try and look them up. I think I have that Gothic from Paradise Lost cd somewhere but nowadays I just listen to everything in digital cause I don't even own a CD player anymore. Last stereo with cd player I had was 12 years ago. One of my daughters eventually killed it. Most of my cd's are pretty standard though as the digipacks used to cost a fortune back in the day. Nowadays it seems a bit cheaper unless a collectors cd.
At least now CDs, tapes and LPs doesn't cost too much, especially if it recent press. I know what you talking about, back in days when I was kid, it was not only expensive, but also hard to find a good CD. Most of the time we had only shitty pirated albums compilation, but we were satisfied with it) So music from those CDs tranfered from one hands to another. But now, when I have opportunity, I'm trying to collect all of my favorite albums, progress goes slowly but right, because sometimes I need some sort of special album press and it need time to find it for good price.
But yeah, most of the time I listening music through my phone, I also have an old Philips player, that has decent speakers, CD and tapes slots, work just fine. And I prefer digipacks over jewel cases.
I can't really recomend Death Vomit, there is so much problems with their 1993 albums... can't say much. Do you heard Katalepsy?
Yes those were the days of free trade via tapes and cds. It was really hard to find anything in the 90's. Before internet explode, coukdn't order or find anything. We nevet had a metal shop or anything like that. Just copies...all albums were bought only by asking the guy at the shop if he knows any metal bands :))...I never heard of katalepsy. just listened to them. They are amazing technical death. Will load their albums now :) Thanks for the tip!!
Well, we had several metal shops here, in Minsk, but most of their catalog was bootleg merch, CDs were only in one shop, majority of them were boots too. But our "elder comrades" were primal source for music, they had some great stuff, like Death, Edge Of Sanity and Morbid Angel.
Good to hear that you liked em) Really great band live too, seen them twice, they tour sometimes in Europe, but I'm not sure about States/Canada. And yeah, they evolved from their first album, from stubborn brutal/slam to technical death.
I don't think they are too big on touring US/Canada. Not too many people know them. Not sure about other cities here but in Toronto bands like Bloodshot Dawn can't gather enough to fill a pub not sure who would show up for an unknown band. We have few netal shops not in Toronto buy nearby cities...no bootlegs...I've actually never seen one that sells bootlegs. Maybe harsh monetary penalties. If thry ever show up here, I will go and buy their merch.
Now that's the problem, people usually interested in bigger bands, and Katalepsy definitely now one of them. Maybe that can play on some fest, as they did on Hellfest. They have some merch in their Bigcartel shop.
Well, we don't have any licence rules here, especially about heavy music's merch and records. I remember one case, when foreign company accused one of our governmental offices, because they use unlicensed Microsoft Word for writing documents))
Thanks for the tip! I will buy their shirt today...here its different. You can get sued and end up with no money for anything if you don't follow the rules. Especially from bigger companies...its very expensive...so nobody even bothers. I know Belarus, Russia and all ex Soviet republics are totally different. I was a kid when we left Moscow. Things are a lot less strict over there.
Probably they will add some stickers/flyers or maybe even poster to order, and if you interested, you can also check out Relics Of Humanity, they are from Minsk, they play some crushing dark/brutal death metal.
Well, since CIS isn't bonded to foreign laws, we can do some piracy, illegal downloading and other stuff. Yes, Belarus and Russia has many differences from Europe and overseas, but some things are common, and I can't say, that we have much of stricted thing here now. But sometimes I thinking of moving to another country with better living conditions.
erghh living conditions are questionable. It depends what you have in Belarus. I've seen some people succed here and some that complained like crazy. If you have a good job and good place to live maybe its not going to improve much. It all depends on how well you are established already. But overall North America & some Euro countries might have more things to offer.
In Canada its legal to download btw. Its illegal to upload though :)
For bootlegs they will probably smash anyone who tries that. Not many attempt it.
I know what you mean. So people move to other coutries and think it's gonna be all giving paradise, they don't even bother themselfs in learning language. Of course, for that kind of people, nothing will change, or maybe even became worse. I have a decent job, I'm working in polygraphy, but it could be better, all of prices are growing, but salaries aren't. The case is not even in job, everying lies in poor economical conditions. And polygraphy is better developed in EU, sometimes we have to work on dated equipment, most commonly in state enterprises, partial companies stock better equipment.
Well, I can't imaging our countries without downloading)) But if such rules were from begining, than it would be ok.
Yes. Language is one of the problems...the other one is getting to at least the same standard of living that you had. Lets say you're a Doctor. When you get to, lets say Canada, you are automatically a nobody. You need to start your education all over. It means at least 5-10 years in Medical schools/University or what not. + 50K to 100K of debt once you're out of University...so its expensive and time consuming.
So by coming here, you just killed 10 years of your life. If you're young and single, it could work. If you have a family, this task might be too much and too expensive. So instead of spending time with your family, you get to kill those 10 years...
Conditions might be better but how much people are willing to sacrifice, that's another question. Some said its not worth it...we've just had couple of friends going back...mostly families...single people with no heavy stones to carry are usually most adaptable.
Money problems here, exist as well. For example, in cities like Toronto & New York, you will not be able to make it, if you earn, lets say 100K. Average house in good neighbourgood costs over 1 million. Given downpayment of 20%, you have to loan 800K. that means you have to pay almost 4K a month for house loan. Plus property tax of 400 a month + car insurance (200 a month) + utilities (300 a month) + more crap....100k after tax is around 5,200 a month...so you are left with about 200$ for food......
and here goes...average salary in Toronto is 60-70K...not very survivable....if you're single and willing to compromise for a not so good neighborhood, it can work....60-70K after tax is only 3K....average rent of apartment in Toronto is around 2K. So not much money left for anything.
I think right now globally, people are having issues with money...some countries have a bit easier life.
To be honest we have a simular situation with taxes, also apartments are really pricy, people have to make out credits for 10-15 years or even more, to afford it, the same goes for cars, people making out credits to buy car, and then next 10 years they liven on water and bread. Well, it's not that bad, but it common.
The part with re-education is the worst, even highly qualified professional has to do everything again. I understand why such rules existe, but at least they can give indulgence, if person has alot of experience, high qualification and etc.
I totally agree about global money issues, in some countries you can gain more, but only if you working in specific industries, that developed better then in other countries
sounds very similar to what is happening here. so in the 90's it was no brainer moving to Euro/America...in todayd world, i would think twice and give it a lot of consideration. Most people here are Loan/debt slaves till their last days...cars, houses, even car insurance is crazy...Not sure man...and taxes here are close to 50% of your salary...so even if numbers seem big, cut that number in two.
Well, it was a beginning, borders were open, and if someone wanted to move to another country, they did it. Economic situation was easier, so majority of people successfully settled down abroad. But now it's much more difficult, you know, visa issues, citizenship and everything else.
Loans is some sort of a horrific thing, it's like a self slavery in some way. And people nowadays are locked in materialistic trap.
Yeah its getting hard to read o my phone. I see line for every word. My computer at work blocks tshirtslayer. I think its all due to these terror threats and all that crazy stuff. Getting Visa is tough now.
I'm too lazy for moving to PM)) All I can say I have some introvert tendencies, so usually I don't need communicate with other people that much, I get tired of them, especilly when I'm in a crowded place and I have to interact with people, like on a concert, it's sucks me dry.
But when I find "appropriate" person, like in case with you, you can see how everything goes))
Btw, I had a band once, actually it was two people project and it existed only for half-year, but it if you want I can upload one decent recording we done.

Thank you very much! Well, we just drowned in our daily routine, we didn't even noticed how. Time to time we wanted to resurrect our projest, but it didn't came too far. Lyrics theme is no so doom/death... it's about relationship expirience))
same here...i am not the best at social gatherings. Especially when there is a lot of discussing other people. Thats the worst one for me....Only if there is some common grounds, its always interesting. I can talk to you easily as well! Thats why I cant stand festivals for the most part...its more of a social event rather than concert.
So, I have finally returned from trip to Saint Petersburg, it was not so decent, but I can't say I regret much.
Well, I prefer comments more than PM, it's just have more charm to it. When I was younger, like 5 years old before, I always tried to get closer to the stage as much as possible, and of course it leading to interaction with other people. Now I'm usually standing somewhere on the "floor" above.
Not only we have common interests, but common origin as well, at least in some way, so that's why it's easy)
Yeah, definitely bad conditions for work.
Not too much really, just people, who were with us were a little "savage", city itself is very beautiful, I've been there 2 times. First in 2016, when I was at Dying Fetus show, and it was independent trip, and second time we decided to use tour agency, and it was kind of mistake. It was pretty hard to always move with that 40 people crowd, they were draining our anergy, so we got tirred quickly.
You got to visit St. Petersburg some day, just don't use tour agencies, you will have more freedom. And you have to see St. P. at night, man, it's so fascinating!
I've been to Moscow, St.P. and also Ivanovo/Kineshma (when I was 7 years old or something.) My mother actually was born in Kineshma, and she lived majority of her youth in Ivanovo and some other cities, and only then she moved to Minsk.
So, what are his impressions about Minsk?
Oh I wont be going in a long time. I have 2 kids and a lot of trouble to sort out before making such trips. I will use my cousin for the trip :) He lives in Moscow.
My friend was born in Minsk. He came here when he was around 14-15. He went back to visit. We went to high school together and metal concerts afterwards. Still going to some concerts here and there. Although he likes rave music now more :) So only few concerts here and there.
Lots and lots of responsibility, not so easy, yeap. All I can say you will St.P. is full of tourists, mostly in attraction areas, and majority of tourist are guys from China.
Tastes tend to change, or in his case he just added some new stuff. Did he you tell anything about Minsk?
My parents just came back from Moscow and thats what they told...a lot of Asian tourist and world cup made it even crazier...they also went to Mogilyov...we have a lot of faimly there...
He still likes some metal but not like before...I think his wife changed his mind:))...my Satyricon "Nemesis...", Mayhem "Rivers of blood" and all 90's shirts those are his tshirts he gave to me when we were around 17 years old. He just showed me few videos in a metal bar...I think he had fun. He was much more hardcore metaller back in the day...age does its trick too and kids :)
Maybe someday you will visit Belarus too, maybe even Minsk)) That's pretty interesting how the family roots are growing from, not even from one country.
Well, in my opinion, if person really loves that music, then it will remain with him till the end.
That's really sad. I have a theory, that those people were listening to metal only to express themselves, make everyone notice them or they were lonely, so they decided to join one of subcultures to feel more complete, anyway they didn't liked the music much, rather using it as a tool.
It will take a lot of time, but it should happen))
well its really self expression for everyone but i think they just took it wrong. They thought it would bring them fame and glory. When they understood that it will only diminish their chances of being famous they dropped metal music like a peeling skin. Moved on to some other musical culture. They really wasted many metal shirts :))
It's only their choise and they got what they deserve) At least it's good for us, less assholes and trully more shirts))
I bet they speaking of that life period as about something to be ashamed with.
true...i know one guy who used to be metalhead and now says he is away from the evil that it brings...such hoser...although he is not entirely bad guy...but the way he treats metal now is just bad...i find his lifestyle evil...he is there not for music or lifestyle but maybe just chasing vagina
Speaking about metal in an evil way and being evil himself, that's explains everything) Well, probably it's his primal reason, but I guess he didn't succeed much.
All these fashionable axeholes usually quitting metal after 3-5 years, they are mostly after stupid partying and lots of alcohol.
It may be shocking for you but I don't drink at all))
not shocking. I dont drink as well...maybe just new years...otherwise, i just dont have the urge...i used to drink when i was 18 or so...stopped in my early 20's...i do smoke though :))
Not even on new year or some other holiday, zero alchocol in my blood, maybe some sweets with liquor, but it's a rare thing too) I've noticed that alot of youngs, 13-15 y.o., are drinking, they some sort of alchocol cult, mostly they take all this from some shitty Vkontakte pages and even worse russian new school/cloud hip-hop.
Well, you can try quit smocking, but only if you really want to, if it doesn't bother you much, then it's not a problem I think.

Awesome, love Pantera and this album is great!

I remember getting this tape. I made sure that my entire street was listening to this album with me.
Azagthothed on
I'm pretty sure they loved it) I mean, how could you not love songs like "Becoming" or "Use My Third Arm"?
vkok on
Yeah i am not sure about their feelings towards metal music. They somehow become very limited in their self expression :))
Azagthothed on
They were stunned by music's loveliness)

well I remember my grandpa loved it...he asked me for this tape actually...that was ackward at first :)

I've been to Moscow, St.P. and also Ivanovo/Kineshma (when I was 7 years old or something.) My mother actually was born in Kineshma, and she lived majority of her youth in Ivanovo and some other cities, and only then she moved to Minsk.
So, what are his impressions about Minsk?
vkok on
Oh I wont be going in a long time.

Did he you tell anything about Minsk?
vkok on
My parents just came back from Moscow and thats what they told...a lot of Asian tourist and world cup made it even crazier...they also went to Mogilyov...we have a lot of faimly there...
vkok on
He still likes some metal but not like before...I think his wife changed his mind:))...my Satyricon "Nemesis...", Mayhem "Rivers of blood" and all 90's shirts those are his tshirts he gave to me when we were around 17 years old.

90% of people who were saying that they are metalheads back in the day...are no longer into metal. therr is still the 10% that still listens to it...
i will definately visit...when kids will be big enough to travel with or leave them at home :)

That's really sad. I have a theory, that those people were listening to metal only to express themselves, make everyone notice them or they were lonely, so they decided to join one of subcultures to feel more complete, anyway they didn't liked the music much, rather using it as a tool.
It will take a lot of time, but it should happen))
vkok on
well its really self expression for everyone but i think they just took it wrong. They thought it would bring them fame and glory. When they understood that it will only diminish their chances of being famous they dropped metal music like a peeling skin. Moved on to some other musical culture. They really wasted many metal shirts :))
Azagthothed on
It's only their choise and they got what they deserve) At least it's good for us, less assholes and trully more shirts))
I bet they speaking of that life period as about something to be ashamed with.
vkok on
true...i know one guy who used to be metalhead and now says he is away from the evil that it brings...such hoser...although he is not entirely bad guy...but the way he treats metal now is just bad...i find his lifestyle evil...he is there not for music or lifestyle but maybe just chasing vagina
Azagthothed on
Speaking about metal in an evil way and being evil himself, that's explains everything) Well, probably it's his primal reason, but I guess he didn't succeed much.
vkok on
well his primal reason is not evil but he took the wrong path to get there :)
being a poser doesnt get you far.

All these fashionable axeholes usually quitting metal after 3-5 years, they are mostly after stupid partying and lots of alcohol.
It may be shocking for you but I don't drink at all))
vkok on
not shocking. I dont drink as well...maybe just new years...otherwise, i just dont have the urge...i used to drink when i was 18 or so...stopped in my early 20's...i do smoke though :))
Azagthothed on
Not even on new year or some other holiday, zero alchocol in my blood, maybe some sweets with liquor, but it's a rare thing too) I've noticed that alot of youngs, 13-15 y.o., are drinking, they some sort of alchocol cult, mostly they take all this from some shitty Vkontakte pages and even worse russian new school/cloud hip-hop.
Well, you can try quit smocking, but only if you really want to, if it doesn't bother you much, then it's not a problem I think.
vkok on
they think they are immortal...and it looks cool on them...same reason we used to drink and smoke back then.
Smoking is actually good for me...its a distraction...maybe it will kill me eventually...but something will kill me anyways :)
Azagthothed on
If something gonna kill you, let it be the thing you enjoy)

I know my death :) It aint cigarretes. Its women :)
Azagthothed on
It's one great release from life I can say, wouldn't be againts such fate)
vkok on
Totally! Women are the best! Dont mind one taking me south of heaven :))
