Such a strange yet enjoyable record. Funk, jazz, hip hop, and metal all wrapped up into one! I must say that it was a pleasant surprise when I found out Decibel did a Hall of Fame article on this record. I've only seen Living Colour live once when I was 9 (maybe 10) as a part of a Jimi Hendrix tribute show. Hope to see them on their own one day.

Yeah "funk metal" man haha. I don't know if one can say it was an actual genre because I'm not sure any band ever said "Hey man let's play funk metal!", but it was definitely a weird sound lol. Aside from the bands listed though, let's not forget Infectious Grooves, early Primus, and early RHCP. There were also some hair bands who crossed over into "funk metal" territory! Extreme, Bang Tango, Love/Hate...weird haha. If we do say funk metal is a valid subgenre of metal though, then there's no doubt that it began with Deep Purple on Stormbringer and Come Taste the Band!
