To think that this band used to make such great albums. It's hard to comprehend when compared to the empty husk they are today. Oh well, nothing lasts forever I guess. And this album still feels fresh even today with its subtle use of folk music interludes and melodic riffwork.
also this edition is really nice. Well worth the money.

Cannot say I'm a fan of their new style much haha. This, colony, and Jesters Race are my goto albums.

I'd say everything up to and including Whoracle are worthwhile listens. After that I really can't be arsed with them. ^^

I've not got Whoracle yet... I must fix that.
Haha, true. Can appreciate it for what it is but it's not In Flames!

In a way I consider Whoracle to be their creative peak. That's where they found a perfect balance of maintaining aggression and still having catchy songs. "Food for the Gods" and "Morphing into Primal" are two good examples if you want to give the album a try.

Ah sweet, the guitar solos in both are bloody incredible!! Keen as hell to hear the rest of the album!! Morphing Into Primal would be brutal live.
For a newer album I didn't mind Come Clarity it had some good bits. I still want to see them live but I know it won't be as good as it would have been 15+ years ago.

Indeed. It would've been pretty sweet if they'd built upon that sound instead of incorporating more simplified song structures and focusing more on letting Anders' voice carry the band(witch it so painfully obviously just don't have the ability to do).
I haven't listened to Come Clarity since it was released pretty much. But I might have to give it a spin some day then. I recall it being at least passable, then again I was like 14 or something at the time so what did I know. ^^

Yeah that's true. I love technical and mind fuck albums, but if you have a good thing going bloody stick to it!! Anders probably couldn't go as hard anymore, like Jonas from Katatonia cannot go all that deep like he used to.
It's a better release compared to their latest batch. How old are you? Like 26? I've always thought you'd be in your 40s haha. My bad matey.

Anders wasn't that good even back in the days. He's a solid screamer but I'd lie if I say his voice was ever the reason i listened to these guys in the first place. When he's at his best he doesn't get in the way of the music, but nothing else.
I turned 28 this year. ^^

Fair enough, cannot remember how I got into them think I saw a cover and their name and thought it sounded cool haha. I do enjoy Mikael's vocals.
Ah cool, I'll be 28 this year too :)
