Don't worry, I cleaned it people! Hahaha

Thanks man, I love this album :D The song Call from the Grave... UGHH! God damn it's awesome.

Anyway, cleaning them is easy as hell. It's just that normally they don't come this dirty, but you have to clean them before playing them so yeah, after I took the pictures I got right on it.

You need some tools for the job, but it just takes a few seconds (or minutes in this dirty dirty case, hehe). I use an "audio technica sonic broom" pad, along with a cheap record cleaning liquid solution. All you do is apply a few drops to the pad, wait a few minutes for it to sink in, and gently press and motion counterclockwise a few times, until all static, dust, hair and whatever else contaminants come off. That's what I first read when I bought my first record player, so those are the instructions I go by.

You should also clean or change the stylus needle once in a while. I don't clean it myself, I just change it like every six months or something like that.

great album! thats cool you got the original pressing.
Under one flag!!

LaUlvenDrepe's picture

Thanks man. I always try to go for original pressings if I can, because I like feeling the historical significance of the records. You know, they've BEEN there.

I don't know if that sounds crazy or not, but yeah.

hellbloodfire666's picture

I totally agree. you said it perfect. I do have some re-issues, but if I can, I try to track down an original

Hails! Everything about this album is just amazing. Funny thing for the longest time, I thought the front cover was a painting. Time to blast this album at full-volume and head-bang like a goddamn maniac!

Although I have to admit that I haven't played this record all that much lately, yes... it is a fucking masterpiece. I should listen to it soon, but unfortunately not tonight.

Enjoy the blackness!!!

I was looking on Black Mark's catalog and I found the vinyl set of-"In The Memory Of Quorthon", I kind of figured if there was a best of then someone is better off buying the 'Jubileum' trilogy. I'm sure that the box set would go great to complete my Bathory-collection, though.

I do wonder sometimes if the 'NECRONOMICON / MALEFICARUM' sessions will see the light of day. I doubt it some-what because some of Blood On Ice back in '89 was unfinished, and in '95 [if memory serves me right] Quorthon had to go back and modify/add vocals and what have you to complete it. So I'm thinking this could be the case with the [NECRONOMICON...] sessions. I believe Börje mentioned he had no intention at the moment to release anything on that one.

Well, I know I tend to ramble quite a bit on this topic, but it would be interesting to know more about it.

You sure do know your Bathory man.

It's nice to talk to someone who is very dedicated to the roots of a band that has influenced so many. Much respect to you man! I love Bathory as well.

I don't mind if you ramble man. I'm all for deep conversations (about music and many other subjects), but it's just that right now I'm super tired. I had to go to a business meeting (yes, I'm not just a metalhead, I'm a business man... although a different kind of business man. Not the jackass kind) and got home late, lifted weights... and I'm also super stocked about finally being able to purchase a REALLY rare Occvlta demo shirt that I had been after for YEARS.

Reborninblasphemy666's picture

That's great man, I heard I think it was "Blood Messiah" or something. The song is great, very classic black metal [very Hell Hammer-ish]. I hear ya on that one, I'm graduating school in a couple of years. So I'm still looking in what to major in, as Fenriz would put it: "TCB belt: Taking Care Of Business", It is most definitley important. 'Blood Fire Death' is a really good album to play when working out; "A Fine Day To Die" really gets the dopamine flowing when putting on a about 5 more pounds then what I'm accustom to hehe.

I'm getting the "Hel Trilogy" in the mail soon. Written by author, C. Dean Andersson (pen name, Asa Drake, there is actually some information about some books on this page, http://bathory.freehosting.net/cdanderss.html).

So, I look forward to reading them while listening to-"Hammerheart" and "Twilight Of The Gods". I should definitley check out some more stuff by Occvlta sometime. I really enjoy eightee's style black metal (pre-Celtic Frost/Hellhammer, Venom, BATHORY of course! haha, Holocausto, Sarcofago, Mefisto (swe), etcetera).

Yeah Occvlta are fucking awesome, they definitely have a very old-school sound that they got waaay right. Unfortunately they only have one complete demo (We Command the Wolves), and that's it. The rest is another very short demo and splits with other bands.

I would really like a full-length, but no rush!

You've got good taste man, Mefisto, Hellhammer, Bathory, and VENOM!!

Damn those first two Venom albums are just, UGH!!! Pure energy. I'm also currently waiting for an old Venom shirt to get here, from 1986 I believe. Can't wait!

Reborninblasphemy666's picture

That's awesome, man. I was reading some reviews on that demo (We Command The Wolves), I'll search on Ebay and see if I can find it. As you can probably tell, I won't take the lazy way of getting music (Blogspot downloads, Torrents and what have you), so I try to buy an album whenever I can. I'm not one of the pro-anti-piracy people, but I like to have the full product in my hands and not just some MP3-CD-R. I'll surf youtube for some songs, and then if I really like what I hear then I'll buy the album.

There is just something exciting about going to the record store. I actually bought the last copy of the new Darkthrone on shelves, so it's good to see good metal still selling. Hell, even flavor-of-the-month shit bands are not selling-out their CDs. So it actually makes me happy to see Metal albums still being bought today, even with the wave of downloading.

The last metal album I bought was "Flag Of Hate" EP by Kreator. but in terms of anything I bought as of recent, it was-"Wagner: The Ride of the Valkyries, Overtures and Choruses".

They actually have a copy of the "We Command the Wolves" tape on eBay right now. At least I think they do, I checked a few days ago and it was there.

Unfortunately, I'm not such a big fan of tapes. I would like to get my hands on the second press CD of this demo (the one with all the songs) though, badly!

I'm not a huge fan of CDs either, but I prefer that to tape. I only buy CDs when it is absolutely necessary or when I have the extra cash to buy it along with... VINYL!

That will always be my favorite format. Records are just so personal, you know? I prefer that to anything.

So until Occvlta release that demo on vinyl, I'm stuck listening to it on YouTube. There is another band that I fucking LOVE, called Sodb. I was too late to get any of their shirts... but man I'd kill for one. They also just have a demo on tape, but I pre-ordered the vinyl that is currently being pressed. God damn it I can't wait!

That is pretty much the best black metal demo I have ever heard, or at least one of them. They are not solely old-school though, they mix the influences both from old and new black metal. Crazy good!

Anyway, you should consider yourself lucky that you have a record store that carries new respectable metal records man. The ONLY respectable record store around here doesn't give two shits about metal.

They have some seriously great old-school hard prog and psychedelic rock. I'm talking Queen, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Cream, The Turtles, and a bunch of hippie music. Good stuff for that. But they literally only have like one and one half boxes of metal mixed with punk. That's it... and it's nothing updated, just a bunch of old records from more common bands like Slayer, Iron Maiden, and Guns N' Roses, along with a bunch of The Exploited punk records.

I was so disappointed when I went there. I only bought one W.A.S.P. album which I rarely listen to, and Led Zeppelin's Mothership compilation (which is fantastic).

It's cool that you like classical music as well. You remind me a lot of myself, with the exception that I don't like to read all that much. Or actually, practically at all.

Edgar Allan Poe did write the poem entitled "Alone" though, so I will be eternally grateful for that, because my favorite band turned it into an amazing piece of avant-garde masterpice song!

Hey, buddy, my apology for the late response and all, my internet connection has been a real female dog lately, if you know what I mean, haha.

Yes, I saw a listing for the cassette on ebay the other week, it's pretty expensive, though. I enjoy cassettes for making mixes; as I do have a Walkman, it's good for when I'm on a bus, or when I have my walk. When I'm at home, I play a few lp's- as my vinyl collection is not much, I have stuff like-Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, The Beatles, and Gustav Holst's-"The Planets". I'll play them when I am relaxing at home, playing my guitar and drinking tea.

I do prefer the warm sound of vinyl over-CDs, cassettes, mini-disc, Ipod, etcetera. Nothing beats that feeling of hearing a beautiful wall of sound on good speakers.

I've heard of 'SODB' before, I will check out some of their stuff on youtube. Sounds killer, heck, I wish the record store in my area had GBH and The Exploited. But of course they [Record & Tape Traders] have a great metal selection, they had BATHORY, Morbid Saint (Really great, Spectrum Of Death is an amazing record!), old Nuclear Blast compilations, you name it, any great classic extreme metal classic, they have it-and it's original, too!.

Hehe, yeah, E.A.P. is bloody-ACE!. "Tell Tale Heart" is a real chiller. I really enjoy classical music. My dad played quite a bit of classical (And he cranked up the volume on Mariachi!, time to pour the tequila! hahaa!), so my toddler-years consisted of classical and anything really. But, classical and metal always holds a special place in my heart. I also enjoy Synth-pop. I really like 'The Magnetic Fields', they're kind of hard to describe.

Aside from music, reading and writing. I enjoy old Horror-flicks, 'The Incredible Melting Man', 'Attack Of The Giant Leeches', 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)', 'Night Of The Living Dead', and of course-the slap-stick inde. horror as well.

No problem man, the internet can indeed be a pain in the ass at times.

I was actually able to get a hold of one of those Sodb shirts I had been after recently! The grey one too! I'm still looking for a black one, but it's no longer mandatory. I'm desperately waiting for the mail every day to see if it gets here. It seems a bit too soon for now, but hey you never know.

I like horror flicks too man, but to be honest my favorite movie genre is quite the opposite, comedy. Dumb and Dumber, Ace Ventura, and just generally stuff like that, haha. A different kind of comedy that is just beginning to take off is the horror/comedy thing that I first heard about with Zombieland. I love that too. There was another one that I really liked that was horror/comedy (by the way I mean like gore horror, not the "Scary Movie" kind) but I can't remember right now.

Anyway, it's cool to hear that you had a lot of musical influences when growing up man. All I HAD to listen to (because my mom would play it while cleaning) was fucking salsa music... UGH! I wanted to stab my ear with a pencil just to go deaf.

Honestly, I can't stand that Mariachi stuff either (no offense, haha). The commercials for the new albums are hilarious though. It seems like all of those big bands are named after animals, for some reason... in Spanish of course.

I do listen to a lot of non-metal stuff myself though. Classical, folk/neo folk, and movie and video game soundtracks (even though I no longer play video games... go figure).

I also have to agree that nothing beats the sound of vinyl. I pretty much spent my day yesterday playing some. I don't do that too often, I usually just play one daily... two tops. But yeah once in a while when I really have nothing to do I spend all day on that.

Some that I played yesterday included:

Koldbrann - Vertigo
Taake - Hordalands Doedskvad
Autopsy - Severed Survival

Reborninblasphemy666's picture

That's great man!, as I'm all too familiar with finding a certain item, and I'm just really chuffed to finally receive it. My brother just recently bought me another BATHORY shirt (this time it's, 'Blood Fire Death' long-sleeve), I'll post photographs of the shirt as well as another set of photos of the album; I wear my Bathory shirt with pride (HAIL THE HORDES!).

I also enjoy comedy movies myself. Pet Detective is funny as all heck, man. Honestly Scary Movie were pretty bad after the Wayans Bros. weren't in them, as for Zombieland it's a really awesome film (Woody Harrelson is one of my favorite actors, Natural Born Killers is one of my favorite movies of all time, there's just so much truth in it). Jim Carey as well. I enjoy movie-scores and video game music, too. DOOM is a favorite, as that's probably like the only video game I play (and I am a huge fanatic of; I make my own levels).

I still have an N64 and Super Nintendo (I forgot to mention, KILLER INSTINCT!, they have a killer soundtrack!). I'm just not up to date with the latest technology's (I got my first smartphone, I think that's what it's called, a month ago and I still don't know how to use it). Haha, yeah, I'm not into 'Salsa', either. I like Vicente but other than that I like classical more than Mariachi.

Great list, Autopsy is one of my favorite bands. Severed Survival is just so awesome!.

Cool man, congrats on the new Bathory shirt! It's definitely something to wear with pride.

You got your first smartphone a month ago?! God damn man, haha. You're late on that one!

My favorite video game soundtracks are from Final Fantasy. Nobuo Uematsu is a fucking genius, but I really enjoy all FF music, even the soundtracks not composed by him. The FF XIII one is just glorious! I also like the Silent Hill, Chrono Trigger, and Kingdom Hearts soundtracks. Plus others that don't come to mind right now. As far as movie ones go, my two favorite soundtracks would have to be the Interview with the Vampire, and Pet Sematary scores.

Reborninblasphemy666's picture

Final Fantasy!, looks really cool. I had a friend who was really into that game. That's all I would hear is the music coming from his speakers, haha!. Hehe-yeah, for the longest time I had a Nokia flip. It was a really good phone, had it for about 4 years. It's crazy to see how much technology advances, I remember that being the first phone I got-which was in middle school, and still brand new at the time (this was back in 2008, I was born in '96, so yeah around 12 or so).

I have these black-combat boots, the BFD shirt would go great with my camouflage army pants. That's actually happened quite a few times, I would be walking in the hallway (boot sound and all.... BONK BONK BOONNK!) and the administrators would ask me if I was a student. It's bloody hilarious.

Pet Semetary, another good film. I first heard L7's-"Shitlist" in that movie. By the way, have you heard Quorthon's solo albums?, they're really great.
