How do you know its a bootleg?

It almost looks like there was something stamped on there. Possibly "Pagan England" You'd probably have to compare it to one with a clearer stamp.

It does compare. I can decipher the england 100% and the top word could definitely be pagan. this matches up with original ones and it has the same feel, shine and edges when i compare to other originals. Im definitely inclined to say this is an original

I'd lean towards original also. It's got clean lines and definitely looks cleaner and more consistent than most any bootleg.

I could be wrong but I thought the original has the letters engraved into it while the boot has the letters that are outward like this one

This is a modern bootleg of the vintage pin. Compare to this one: https://tshirtslayer.com/pin-badge/pin-sold
You will notice that the details of the original are more subtle while the details on the bootleg are bolder. Compare the bevel of the letters, the lines of the 'stained glass' portion of the cross, and even the texture of the metals used.

The vintage one by Pagan England is made of pewter. Never seen a bronze colored one...

The one i have here definitely feels like pewter though and id say the link looks more bronze like. Not saying the material is bronze of course but it has a bit of a brownish look to it, maybe from the age. Mine compares to the pewter i have from other pins from that era

Also hard to see on the picture is the more gritty material around the letters. Its definitely not smooth as in most boots today. In the picture its a black blob though due to shadows
