Immortal - At the Heart of Winter woven patch - version comparison

Lord Lexy
Tue, 25/06/2024 - 08:47

Comparison of 4 versions of Immortal - At the Heart of Winter patch. All patches have been photographed at the same time using the same lighting.

Differences are:

- shade of blue
- details of the hill in left lower corner and on right hand side of frame
- granularity of the clouds above the keep

I have been looking for a version with specifically vivid blue and more details on the hills. Some sellers online are not aware of these differences and post a picture that is slighty different from what they sell.

I can sell/trade any of the versions that is not on my vest.

Crazy catch. I wonder why different version even exist when details are so indifferent. Maybe a different production plant?

Lord Lexy's picture

Maybe slight modifications because the current weaving technology allows for more detail? And the shade of blue I’d ascribe to a “close enough to the previous colour” or a new shade being available to use.

But they’re all printed in the same year. The standard copyrighted patch would always change the year. The only exception I know is the Pleasure To Kill patch that obviously is a newer reproduction.

is this made by razamataz england? looks like it. they certainly do make several runs/prints and as far as im aware, the copyright stays the same. i have several burzum patches by razamataz that not only change in size but also have different backing and different colours. one even has grey instead of white so im guessing they run out of the colour :P

Lord Lexy's picture

Yeah, I also don’t believe that the copyright refers to the year of printing. In this case it’s only the first print.

any idea when they started wrapping the patches? plastic sleeves where introduced by razamataz in the late 2000's/early 2010's? because they used to sell them without any kind of cover back in the day

Bochilis's picture

What a trip. I thought cutting was not always perfect as often seen in the crooked square/rectangle patches of the early 80s. I’ve seen some patches from the early 90s that are still in a shrink wrap taped to cardboard.

goretroll's picture

oh wow, only ever saw them loose in shops (germany and scotland)

goretroll's picture

its hard to see, but the strips are both different sizes (firsprint was apparently silver without glitter, i only have glittery ones)

the squareish ones on the right are different sizes and the far right one is silver instead of white
