I got one on my blue vest myself. ^^
It's a bit mushy looking when you see it up close. But I doubt most people will ever get that close when you are wearing the jacket anyways.

It is definitely better when viewed from a couple of feet away, you're right. It's almost like they've tried to go TOO detailed on the weave. As you say, though, no one's going to be getting THAT close!

These kind of motifs rarely look good when woven. It would be better if they picked out a detail and made that into a patch. Like If they'd taken the back print from the Dark Saga tour shirt instead of using the entire coverart.
