I love it, def leppard first two are rockin hard, almost hear thrash riffs in these first albums, Steve clark was one of my guitar heroes.

Amen. "On Through The Night" & "High 'n' Dry" are among my fav' albums. They're rocking hard indeed - I really see this patch as a good reflection of this.

My guess is that it came from the On Through the Night-era, they made quite some merchs bach then, and later they seemed to abandon this logo for a more commercial one.

You're right, their logo changed from High 'n' Dry - how could I have not thought about that. So following the infos I gathered as summed up in the description, it would narrow the chronology down to 1979-1981. Now that's some patches archaeology! ;)
