I would never tattoo a Bandlogo on my skin..
just out of curiosity, y not?
doyle92 on
Well I mean there is no certainty that you may still be listening to that band in let's say, for example 20 years later.
Maybe, maybe not.

I know there is risk that you're not listening to that band anymore. Thats why I will try to avoid name-tattoos.
If I dont listen some of the bands which logos I carry, I will not hate them or be a shamed of them.
They will be also memories for what mattered to much at certain point of my life.

Plus, in 20 years Wintersun maybe will have a new album out. So you can rekindle that love for them.

i can understand why people say its a dumb thing to do, but this band is not just a band i like. their music has dragged me through the dark times of my life so far. so even if i dont listen to them anymore (what i really doupt) i will still be remembered about what this band meant en did for me ;)

Point one: yes there is a high change of not liking the band anymore in 10 years but that the same thing with all tattoo motives, I guess you should thing twice before getting a tattoo no matter what it is. I definetly don't have anything against band tattoo's, I own two myself. (Kreator Pleasure to Kill and Beherit The Oath of Black Blood) and more will follow. But then we come to point two. Tattooing is art for me and I dont thing a Bandlogo no matter how many details it has is justified to call itself that. It's still somehow advertising. And it don't takes a lot of skill as a tattoo artist to copy a existing nameplate on your arm.
Third point: I'm going for full tattooed sleeves and when you have a black name tattooed on your lower arm it definitely ruins the whole concept of the arm. When you put more tattoo's on that spot on your arm, your logo loses a lot of visibility and would stay there as dark spot (I'm talking of more black 'n' grey tattoo's). So it ruines the chances of getting more tattoo's there.
Also Wintersun is a very young Band. Their style will change propably and maybe you won't stay behind them in the future as you do now. So when you get a albumcover from your favorite album tattooed it clarifies wich era of that band you support. But that is just guessing maybe you'll like them to death. If you are happy with it, everything is ok. ;)

Nice!
Really cool to see this amount of dedication.
I have couple bandtattoos and I'm going to few more.
Though couple of them are for bands that I already have on my skin.

Amazing tattoo. i was thinking in make it the logo with the W for my second one.
meaningless
its well done made. I can see the point of both sides.
I was thinking myself to make a Bolt Thrower Tattoo (the logo) as i was 15 years old. Then i thought - damn..whats up if they change the style..or i dont like em anymore.
Well...now...20 years passed by..i love them still..and they still pwn everyhing :D So - its ur own choise :)
Have fun with ur Wintersun tattoo dude :D good work :D
