very good... and on vinyl !!! Italy has a very nice tradition with bands like Death SS, Paul Chain, Antonius Rex, Black Hole, Zess and Mortuary Drape....

Ironhead's picture

Only have Mortuary Drape and Death SS at the moment, Death SS are the kings of evil indeed!

check them out... all rooted in 70's hardrock and progrock tradition !!!

Nuclear Bear's picture

Do not forget The Black and Requiem!!! and if you like Antonius Rex you cannot like Jacula ;)

gloriousdeath's picture

yes you're right there !!!

pan_in_ithyphallic_mirth's picture

Yes! Italian horror black! One of the most misunderstood subjenres of BM came off this. With bands like Evol, Maldoror, Abhor, Nashehrhum, and Art Inferno. I cannot believe I never hear anyone talk about these projects!

gloriousdeath's picture

Italy of course had a unique situation: in the late 60's/ 70's you had a large progrock scene with a lot of bands with occult/ dark themes like Museo Rosenbach, Le Orme, Area, New Trolls, Goblin... then you had Italian horror movies/ Argento/ Fulci ... this combination spawned a total unique theatrical approach of hardrock/ metal i think

pan_in_ithyphallic_mirth's picture

I know it indeed! Ive seen so many people shit on Evol for their first albums having almost no metal in it whatsoever and for havign the 'worst synths possible'. How can they not realize this????

gloriousdeath's picture

lack of musical knowledge.... i'm always astonished so many people ain't interested where things have evolved from... know your roots !!!

Perfect, just have the Cd Re-releases of the Demos, I think they are still available through the band. And yes Hungry Mosher, they killed at Hell´s Pleasure, what an amazing Live act.

sadly missed that... killer band... unfortunately they cancelled so many gigs/ tours in the past. At one time my band at the time was to support them, but again they had to cancel !!!
