new rule, only vote by commenting now..

I notice a few users are visiting a lot of items and just pressing on 1 flame and not leaving a comment

well, that's just bullshit, baby.

so i've changed the rules

Corrosive's picture

I love your rare tolerance dude, if i see a post and i don't like it and i don't have nothing to say but i have the right to left a negative rate i'm a "bad user"?
Also sometimes i leave 5 flames without say something... this is bad too? ;)

Corrosive's picture

That's called freedom of expresion or opinion i think, but i'm not bound to say why i dislike some item and start a discussion with the owner/user. At least before now...

I'm not the best person to comment when i dislike something, i'm very inquisitive, a bit close-minded and i can seem very derogatory so i prefer to rate without start a discussion.

Corrosive's picture

Sometimes when i dislike something i rate because is my only way to opine without offend the owner/user for as i said. But well, let's see how the new rule works. It's your site and you rule.

Hungry_Mosher's picture

I totaly aggree with Deimosk8!

arturoheadbang's picture

Deimosk8 Es facil, solo pon en el comentario "1 Flame" jajjajaaja

Corrosive's picture

Buena idea hahaha

Corrosive's picture

Add a "don't like" button or something, or change "poor" for "don't like" for example.
Also remove my username from your post, i don't want to be the tss "bad boy" only for vote negative on items that i dislike :(

Corrosive's picture

And for example now i see many great posts and i will vote but i don't have nothing relevant to say...

Corrosive's picture

Well, this makes that people (like me) only vote when we like something, and ignore disliked stuff if we don't want to say something and stard a discussion.

xSquiggs's picture

I think that's a great idea.

Deathcore.Is.Not.Metal.'s picture

That sounds good.

MetalThrashingMad's picture

this is a good idea

almostwilt's picture

hmm, yea I've seen alot of items recently this morning that have been rated 1 star and I couldn't help think "wtf who would rate this one star".
I Think its a somewhat good idea to what you got, hopefully it will start more discussions on pictures

almostwilt's picture

Double post

Metalitzi's picture

This is actually a really great idea. Supports my ideal of standing up to others while representing your opinion.
Thumbs up, Doc.

Blüdrayne's picture

I approve of this. this isn't censorship. people should say why they like or dislike a certain item.

ErichZann's picture

Voting altogether will dramatically decrease.

astr0's picture

I don't even see the point in voting one or two flames, other than if the item is completely intolerable. If I don't like a shirt because of the design/image/illustration on it - why vote at all?

LeprosyWillTakeControl's picture

i agree, just cuz i dont like something doesn't someone else can't, so why give someone a low rating due to your personal preferences.

LaUlvenDrepe's picture

I'm not quite sure what to make of this really... I mean on one hand discussion is positive (unless people refuse to vote more often now that they HAVE to say something). But on the other hand, sometimes it's best not to say anything at all. If you don't like a shirt/item, I'm willing to bet there are a lot of "personalities" on this site that will probably end up sounding like dicks in with their comments.

Personally, I dislike items plenty as well. But I try to make it fair. I give it one flame if I dislike the band AND the shirt, not just one or the other. I guess we'll just have to see where this new rule takes us. But I generally dislike this one, as much as I love the site.

Rover133's picture

+1 Great line of thinking. I vote 5/5 for some bands I know nothing about. But this site is not about rating a band. It is about the shirt, jacket, collectable, etc....

Ironbound's picture

I like the idea!

megadeth1818's picture

i definitely see where youre going with this, but i feel like i for one would take up space on a lot of entries saying something like "bad ass" (cause lets face it that's really all you need to say for half the stuff on here anyway) just so i can rate it 5 stars

megadeth1818's picture

and speaking of which it seems like i havent been able to vote on anything lately even when i do comment :(

Tico Tyrant's picture

I think it can be viewed either way. On one hand, I completely agree with this move...people should be able to reflect or provide a basis for why they do/don't like something. If something truly only is '1' flame, why bother offering a comment or vote at all?....because no matter what is said, it's going to offend the persons interests....mind you there is a way to convey thought or opinions without being a douche bag. It's a matter of voting and comments not leading to complete arguments over a piece of clothing which can be a bit tricky considering were a bunch of strongly opinionated metal heads. When it comes down to it, some items are voted down for a reason, rarely in the case of low votes would it be hard to understand why.

For example, someone uploads a picture of their clothing, the camera quality is horrible as is the lighting and I can't tell what the item is- and let's say that I choose to vote, and I vote 1 flame......why bother adding a comment, it should be blatantly obvious?

Example of when to add comment-a good quality item is uploaded, the band logo or overall design of said item is weak in my opinion, now...music tastes aside, how am I ti effectively argue the reason behind my voting, if everything is subjective....some people vote 1 flame for thrash items, some people vote 1 flame for black metal, etc.....it's hard to define reasonable voting boundaries, when it's a matter of taste.

Ideally, if comments are to be made mandatory, rather than having them relate to music tastes....there should be other factors as to why and item might be not good(unless it's something like slipknot or asking alexandria or something really fucking stupid)...either way, we shall see how this new system works out!

ultmetal's picture

I like being able to just vote. Sometimes it's just 5 FLAMES because it "it rules" or it's "bad ass". Seems sort of pointless to keep posting comments like that every time you see something you like, though if I see something really cool and unique, I do post simple comments like that. In general, if I give something low marks, I leave a comment anyhow. I guess I just like it the way it was before where you can just vote if you wanna vote, comment if you wanna comment. BUT, I love this site, so whatever, I'm game.

xSquiggs's picture

It will give most users less to do on the site and voting will probably be down 75-85%. It's a great way to lose a lot of traffic.

ultmetal's picture

I'm sure it will go down some. Sometimes, when I'm bored, I'll just sit going through picture after picture just voting. Won't be able to do that anymore.

ultmetal's picture

Leave it like it is and see how it goes.

Zausel's picture

If i saw a vest with the typical heavy metal, thrash metal bullshit, ill rate 1 flame. i hate the style. every one has maiden, metallica bla bla on it. iam tired of seeing this shit. So, 1 flame is better than zero

BlackMetalRights's picture

I've seen some awesome stuff get 1 flame, and i don't understand it.
Lets say I upload something bad, tell me what you don't like about it, and not leave me guessing that everyone hates my stuff.
We are all brothers and sisters of metal!

ShieldbitersValhalla's picture

Good rule. If I see someone vote five flames on my shit, maybe I want to hear how they heard about the band, etc. If I see a single flame, then maybe I want to hear what it is that someone dislikes the post for.

MetalThrashingMad's picture

i don't like this idea, often times I don't feel like commenting but still want to to vote, and i would get pretty tired of saying thinks like 'awesome shirt" or "bad ass" over and over again. But it is your site after all

astr0's picture

So, somebody gave me one flame, because he didn't think the band was "metal". Does that one flame mean he still likes it a little bit? Or is one flame meant to be like a "dislike" button?
If I don't like something, I either don't vote at all, or just leave a comment explaining why I don't like the item. Why would I give any flame at all?
I have no problem with a little comment when voting. And I couldn't care less about people voting 1 flame and not leaving a comment.
So, that's +1 from me.

The_Black_Sleep's picture

dont post shit problem solved no bad ratings/comments

MetalxThrasher's picture

I like this idea. Cause at least someone can tell you what they like/don't like about your item.
Especially with battle jackets.
Though it could spark a fight. But internet fights are for pussies.

hungbyintestines's picture

This new rule is being abused by user ApocalypticCarnage. I saw that he was just commenting the letter "j" and then 1 flaming. I said something about it then he goes and comments "j" on a bunch of my shit and 1 flames 'em. I've also noticed his profile is nothing but a bunch of j's. wtf?

Tico Tyrant's picture

I went through and looked over what you mentioned.
Roughly knowing Apocalyptic's tastes so far on this site, *I think* what he is doing...is showing how easy it is to exploit this new rule(in other words there is a loophole), if an item deemed 1 flame get's voted on, he is maybe showing that literally all someone has to do is type some mumbo jumbo before pressing the voting icon.I believe by typing 'j' on various posts, he is showing that somebody doesn't really need to do much before voting 1 flame and that in the end it's better to just have a system where someone can vote without saying anything unless it has substance or is purposeful

That being said, what he's doing is kind of dumb and it's giving *supposed* false ratings to items without so much as a second glance. If what I mentioned above is not the reasoning behind his posts, then I predict 1 of 3 other things....1)trolling, 2)his account was taken over or 3) He's being an ass.

ErichZann's picture

It's pretty evident what his agenda is. Sure, it's easy to exploit the new feature by leaving a comment like "sucks" or "gay." However, it's annoying and immature to "jroll" about.

hungbyintestines's picture

Ahh thank you!

ShieldbitersValhalla's picture

That's fucking glorious.

cambotero's picture

yup ApocalypticCarnage is fucking with me too with their one flame and "j" post, then remove the post and leave the flame. wut?

Blüdrayne's picture

i never vote actually. sometimes i dont like the style of the jacket even though i like the band. if i give 2-3 flames people get pissy like i hate the band.

LaUlvenDrepe's picture

I think I've made up my mind, this new rule blows. Sometimes you just don't feel like commenting because of one reason or another. And as some have said it gets annoying HAVING to repeat phrases like "cool" or "bad-ass shirt" or whatever constantly. Sometimes an item is just cool, but not cool enough to go out of your way to comment.

Beerfiend666's picture

It's bullshit don't like it.i vote on good stuff and comment on stuff that blows my mind.

meaningless's picture

ah..now i understand. And i thought my browser sucks :P
I was always doing it like this:
First - Voting
Second - Comment+same Flame count above comment

:D

Metalitzi's picture

The flames rating is probably not the most sensible thing, if I think about it. That point has already been mentioned in this discussion.

Let me put it this way:
Youtube removed its 5 star rating system and replaced it with a "like/dislike" type of thing, and I do think they've had a reason for this: People tend to vote the extremes, I've rarely seen videos with like 2 or 3 stars,
In my opinion, TSS should also adopt this system as it's much "fairer" (you don't really need to decide what you like MORE than something else, you either like it or you don't). Furthermore, this bipolar rating system is actually already present, as Doc said: 1 or 5 flame votings are predominant.

So in conclusion, I'd opt for a "Like" and "Dislike" setup.

doomy1's picture

I vote low on 1 sided shirts but never 1 flame unless its maybe a poor bootleg shirt. 2 sided shirts with sleeve prints and great designs should warrant 5 flames i.m.o, but its down to how great people think the band are....a one sided shirt by a band i've never heard of, with only 1 in existence would probably get 5 from me.....voting by commenting gets the thumbs up from me

almostwilt's picture

yea idk, kinda thinking you should change it back.

ultmetal's picture

I miss being able to vote. I like it better the way it was.

almostwilt's picture

yea i agree
