I agree. No point being a metal elitist or snob and yep even now there are young people getting into all kinds of metal via the Nu Metal revival.

It was definitely a strange time, with a lot of diversification of genres in metal. I’m not closed off to that whole movement, although I always keep my favorites. What’s appreciated about the commercial nu‑metal phenomenon is that it served as a gateway to music for many young people, who eventually evolved in their tastes and are now into metal.
