Killer year for black metal and both traditional heavy metal and hard rock! My number 1 was an indie record, but they're my favourite band of all time. Otherwise the Helvetets Port and Savage Oath battled out for top metal album - two very different styles executed perfectly. Shout out to Reverorum Ib Malacht for releasing 3 great albums and 1 further challenging album in a year.

Biggest disappointments, the new Nile was boring as fuck, Blood Red Throne's vocalist is just meh for me so that does not work either, Darkthrone It Beckons Us All sure as shit does not beckon me no matter how hard I try :(

It Beckons Us All was a huge disappointment for me to. I liked one song and couldn't tell you anything else about it. I can also say the same for the new Deicide album.

Great list—some solid and brutal picks! "Celebratory Beheading" and "Gorepop" are absolute standouts for me. I’m stoked to see Judas Priest in there, too; they nailed it with "Invincible Shield." Your honorable mentions are killer—"Guardian of the Universe" especially caught my eye. My top 10 has some overlap, but I’ll need to share soon!
