This is a rare black longsleeve version of the semi-common white Opiate shirt. Down the sleeve is printed WHITETRASHWANNABEMOTHERFUCKER (not Bob Marley) in jumbled fonts. It dons the same font 'Copyright 1992' text as its white counterpart, but interestingly has a smaller chest logo when held side by side with the white version. There is a faint discolored spot down the front (it looks like toothpaste was dribbled on it at some point and may have slightly bleached it), and has a pre-Giant/Murina-era Belton tag, on which a few early '90s Tool shirts were printed.
Yeah, the white one is fairly common in a 'not impossible to find on eBay' sense. The only other black version I've seen was on a Reddit forum - it was a black short sleeve version of this that had a white/red rectangle logo over the chest. Thank you for the view and 5 flames!
the grailest grail I’ve ever seen. been hunting on Tools for over 5 years, and still, havent met the same one yet.
so jealous my friend. you’re the legend!!!
High praise indeed, and thank you for the fire! Yeah, the early day stuff is getting harder and harder to come by these days. If you want some interesting viewing (though a bit rich for my blood), apparently there's a long sleeve version of the more common white one too with this sleeve print.
Thanks, buddy. I snagged this one back in early Lateralus days before the prices skyrocketed. There is (or was) a long sleeve white one on eBay with the same sleeve print that had a $1,200 asking price.
That's crazy! Do you know why it says "white trash" and not "Bob Marley"? Is it just for trademark/copyright reasons, so they don't have to pay to use Marley's name?
I was never really sure about that, since they don't really reference white trash or any social clique in their music, at least not in a forward manner. It just always seemed like deprecating humor, self or otherwise from a clever group.

An awesome one for sure. Seen this in white before, but never black. Prefer this one of the two.
