Thanks guys- it seems like many of these illustrated shirts from the late 90's had heavier print on them. Led to more cracking of the designs, compared to modern sublimated technology of more modern offerings. The designs themselves were also very important and the artwork in general had a lot of talking to do for the bands. Album covers and artwork on shirts was one of the biggest fronts that could be won to bring new fans aboard. I remember seeing shirts and album covers for stuff I had never heard before and it was a definite selling point. It's like "Hey- that looks really cool. Gonna definitely have to see what that's all about!"
