First t-shirt of 2016 - Atorc - a band from Bury St Edmuds featuring the eldest daughter of a couple of my oldest friends.
I havn't been to a gig like this in ages! On Friday night we headed up to Bury and The Venue, being a long room with a bar at one end and a space at the other. Three bands (although we missed the first due to dessert at a nearby brew-pub), helping each other set up and run the hastily acquired sound gear.
Kursk were reasonable, and their guitarist has huge potential. Couple of Priest covers, which never hurts, and a sound that was straight out of 70s metal.
Atorc were very good - and having fun. The core members of the band are totally in synch. Considering the singer and Boudikath are new to the band, they were tight and the new singer is a massive improvement on the last one. When you can hear him (long rant about sound mixing, deleted). The band bill themselves as folk metal, but it's more metal than folk - kinda like Scandinavian death metal, only with beer instead of death. Not a million miles from Alestorm. So, it was all good!
PS - Nothing on the back - the previous run of shirts were just the logo, with 'Pure Folking Metal' on the back.
