Wed, 03/07/2024 - 02:35Holy obscurity, Batman! I’ve long championed Benny “She’s just 16 years old” Mardones. Despite being typecast as an AM radio crooner, the dude had a killer set of pipes and wrote some killer tunes. This DJ only live EP showcases Mardones at his hottest and sweatiest, with a band so raw and rockin’ it needs to be heard to be believed. He even throws in two Elvis covers, “Trouble” and “Jailhouse Rock”, the former containing an adlib lyric about not listening to “no asshole in Iran”. Needless to say, the crowd goes wild. Rest in power Benny: Rocker, mutha, patriot, anything BUT a crooner!
