I never have seen an attempt to bootleg a patch of this band, so I consider this either as not well known or not much liked. I personally hope it is the first reason.
"The march of kings... has begun!"
What I want to present is the only full length release of the US heavy metal band Attila. Compared to other US stuff from 1986, we have a rather raw production here - or as I prefer to call it: simpatico garage sound!
tracklist:
Side A
1. Turn Up the Power
2. Urban Commandos
3. March of Kings
4. Defcon 1
5. Thermonuclear Warrior
Side B
6. Rolling Thunder
7. Wild
8. School's Out (Alice Cooper cover)
9. Chains Around Heaven
10. Tryst

This band is in no way revolutionary and I have to admit, I was not completely impressed when I listened to it a first time. There may be better guitar-guys and - especially in US heavy/power metal - better singers. But when I gave this music another try, I became more and more hooked by that.
"We're going wiiiiiild!"
Especially the first three songs are totally catchy, featuring a very neat chorus. Also the song Rolling Thunder is fast, it's energetic, powerful! Same in the song WILD - the name specifies the programm! Guitars and drums are very dynamic and the singer can unleash his voice perfectly.
Who searches philosophy in the lyrics is wrong with that band, steel is on the menu!
If everything would be perfect, this would not be #20. To me, the last 3 tracks are not half as good as the rest of the album. Heard the Alice Cooper cover from, don't know, maybe 20 bands, and never considered it necessary. Chains Around Heaven and Tryst are more slow, "stamping" tracks - some people may like it, but I miss the speed and the energy from the rest of the album.
The LP is sometimes available for decent prices on ebay or well-sorted record stores, at least here in Germany I've seen it a few times. I also have a CD bootleg from 2007, but I don't think there was another rerelease.
So, what do you think? Good grab or back to the cellar? Check the youtube link out if you don't know it and enjoy.
Hope I will be able to post the next one tomorrow at about the same time, maybe a little later, dunno how long I gotta work.
Cheers!
