Original patches from 1983/1984
Riff Raff (1979-1985) from Oulu was one of the first Finnish heavy metal bands and a pioneer of Finnish heavy. Maybe the best, but surely heaviest metal band in Finland during beginning of 1980's. Their Motörhead-inspired heavy was significantly ahead of its time in Finland, but they lacked connections and marketing in Finland and abroad. They played at the biggest Finnish rock festivals and were supporting act for Motörhead and Kiss during their career.
Voice of Immu Ilmarinen (vocalist and bassist) has often been compared to Udo Dirkschneider, although rock journalists in particular commented on the vocals as the band's weakest link. Riff Raff released three albums in their career, the first of which, No Law'n Order (1982), was still very much heavy rock. Robot Stud, released in late 1982, was a significantly more mature, straight-forward and heavier album and in my opinion the band's best. In 1983, the Give the Dead Man Some Water album was released, which is also a classic of Finnish heavy metal. The album cover caused outrage, especially among journalists, who were horrified by the violence on the cover.
Especially for those who like understand deep history of Finnish metal music and fans of Motörhead, Saxon and Accept.
