If i had known you liked this patch, i'd have put one in the envelope for extra when we were trading but mine is in bad condition

That would have been very generous, thank you for the great Purple patch you did include :)

Thanks mate!
When I got it (a couple of years ago) it instantly hit all the right notes with me and I already suspected it might be something not often found.
Only recently came across the necessary information to confidently (albeit roughly) date it.

Having to sit on it for so long before you can date it definitely shows that it's an uncommon one. Embroidered patches can be a bit of a nightmare to date, so you did well!

I'm making headway with dating embroidered patches, but compared to my progress with woven patches - where I got a pretty good grip on 90s releases and have gotten lucky with at least getting some pictures of 80s catalogues with patch offerings, I'm still fairly close to square 1.
Ah, but one step at a time haha!
Found the picture below in an eBay listing, that helped me immensly with dating this patch.

Full credit for making progress with embroidered ones, I usually have to ask collectors or folks who attended the gigs since there was no substantive mail order then. Nineties are definitely the easiest due to the spread of copyright and licensing on merchandise, plus the abundance of catalogues. Eighties are ok, and I'm halfway decent with them, but the amount of variations in that decade can be a headache haha.
Great photo of the patch in packaging - very cool!
