Stryper it's a cool band, just try to enjoy the music and forget the lyrics, I don't like religion too, but I like metal. Just take this as an advice given by someone who used to listen to heavy metal long before you were born, you could miss very good bands, not just Petra or Joshua... which you may consider so light if you are in to thrash, but acts such as Tourniquet, Logos...

Seriously, to hate something just because of Christian lyrics is ridiculous. It's the music that matters anyways. If you reject all Christian metal, you're missing out on a lot of decent thrash bands such as Believer, Sacrament, Tourniquet, Ultimatum, etc... And how about early Mortification? Scrolls of the Megilloth is one brutal death metal album.

I love Stryper and to all you haters out there - eat a dick! I dont give a fuck what peoples religious, political or racial motives are - if the metal is GOOD - ill dig it and Stryper blow away a lot of the shit that came out of LA during the 80s within the same scene.

I have a a tonne of Stryper albums at home (including the coloured wax pictured here) as well as other rare Stryper records.

Religion and Government (on all levels) is the reason for millions and millions of deaths over our entire history and is the prime reason why we have wars today. Once the world realizes this, the world will actually be in peace. Im not saying that we shouldn't have a governing body. Anarchy will never work, but the current system that's corrupted by corporations will inevitably destroy us. They're not placing humanity as priority but the all might dollar instead, which, in the greater scheme of things is totally worthless. The current systems we live our lives by has failed. Time has shown us this.

I see where you're coming from, but I disagree about the system of corporations being the cause of our destruction. There will always be people who put their well being in front of the well being of the greater populace, regardless of the governing/economic/social systems in place. The way I see it, our shortcomings as human beings lead to corruption and hardship, not just the "systems" we live under. As a Christian, I believe that sin (as brought into the world by humans) will prevent human kind from ever achieving a system free from corruption.

I don't really have any problem with christian bands per say. But Stryper just takes it to far. Their lyrics go beyond cheesy.
I've never read anything more preachy and childish in my whole life. Stryper is to christian metal what Cannibal Corpse is to death metal.
