When I was little, I played this game down to my knuckle-bones. this game is a land mark, not only for the 3d 1stperson shooter genre, but it's also a reflection of the time in wich it was developed. Metal celebrated an all time high thanks to great bands, great scene and (believe it or not) MTV

You play a marine who finds him self on mars where all hell has broken loose. You shoot demons and zombies with a wide variety of weapons that you find along the way.

The amount of on screen pixelated violence you were treated to in this game was unprecedented. blood spurts as your target slump to the ground when you empty your shot gun in their face. Even better is the midi music that accompanies you during your cleaning round.
I'm sure there are people on here who were jamming with their friends and someone started riffing the melody of the first level.

I wanted this patch as it represents happy childhood memories and may be considered a pioneer in incorporating the metal spirit in a video game if not the music.

as Bonus with the release of DooM 3, the community started on a remake of the Original doom maps for doom 3 and revamped the soundtrack. and it sounds awesome.

One of the greatest games of all time. I still play it from time to time.
And that's an awesome fucking patch!!
The in game music is also inspired (some are borderline rip offs) of several metal bands such as Metallica, Slayer, Alice In Chains, Believer and Pantera

when i was in highschool, i used to spawn copies of DOOM onto the computers, and me and the jocks would go head to head in a 4 man free for all death match with monsters on hard. Doom is the most metal game ever. I recently scored the Original duke nukem and am playing that, since ive played doom hundreds of times over. Doom 3 was aweswome too. I fucking hate the Doom movie though.
I always tell myself, if i become rich, i will remake the Doom movie.
Great patch, i will get one soon (its in my watch list i just keep putting it off).

the 1st person classics are Doom, duke nukem, half-life, avp2 and Wolfenstein!

right on, the first game to put you right in hell so you could smash satans army with chainsaws and shotguns. I could just imagine a movie where the marines are battling against the arch-viles, mancubus and revenants. Fuck yeah. Then someone gets the berserker boost and punches an imp in the face to turn it inside out and splatter it across the floor!

It is so fucking ridiculous that in the movie, The fags who directed it wanted to make the monsters "infected beings," because if the monsters were demons from hell, the movie wouldve been rated R (here in the usa).
But the movie was rated R anyways!
So there goes hollywood, destroying a great franchise once again. Now they are doing a Prequel to THE THING, without John Carpenter's consent?
Only in the United States of America can you Legally bootleg a movie.

No one will ever match Carpenter's The Thing, that's for sure. Though I am still hopeful the prequel will be decent since they're attempting to be an actual prequel and not replace it.

Speaking of Carpenter, did you hear they're remaking Escape From New York? What the hell!

Many of John Carpenter's movies are being remade. It's just plain fucking disrespectful cause his movies dont need any rework done to them, they are fine. If it's not Broken, why fix it?
And i saw the trailer. They use Sound effects from the Xenomorphs in Alien and the Predator roar, which is really lame, like "Oh, lets just use those ones!"
I dont want to see the movie but i might, cause just from what i read and saw, It doesnt follow the original by carpenter very closely and im curious to see how it ended compared to the beginning of the original.
