most of the time i am listening to music in my car, so that means cds, but if i am at home and want to devote some real time to actually "feel" the music i will do vinyl and just zone out in front of the sub-woofer... that is until i need to flip the record (the only thing i hate about the medium, besides not being portable), and since the home stereo also contains my only working cassette player it gets used some. if i am doing something on my laptop or reading or something similar then i usually listen to my ipod.
and if i am at work, well i work at a radio station, so no personal music... haha i have come to appreciate the Oldies so much in the years i have been here.
but anyway, if i had to choose a favourite format for metal i would have to say the compact disc, it's just so portable and such a reliable format (provided you don't treat your discs like shit)...
so how do you consume your metal? what's your favourite format?

The best format is live! Don't get much better than that

I only buy vinyl for my absolute favorite albums, and the artwork of that vinyl is a big factor. Other than that, just CDs. Cassettes for small bands I enjoy and want to support

Usually CDs, but I like tapes for albums with lo-fi production to really feel the dank atmosphere

CD. I fucking hate cassettes with passion from the old tape trading days. I'm a practical man.
I do buy tapes still, since some dumb kids are enamored with the format, and some albums I get in all formats. I like to look at vinyls, and listen to at someone else's place but at home, extremely seldom.

So unless some people got banned and comments deleted, this topic was made in 2010 but the first comments were in 2026 xD
Also to keep it on topic:
I like all of it. I buy CDs, Tape and Vinyl. Each with their own charm. If I listen to it through computer it's always MP3s locally on my PC or phone. Never streaming.

I had 8 tracks for awhile, until they were actually stolen.
Had LPs for years. Sold those to a record store.
Had cassette tapes but they tend to wore out after a few years.
Had CDs. But ended up selling them. I have a few CDs but not many.
I have my music on my phone now.
