Sabbat Tribute Vest Vol. I

This is my first Sabbat tribute vest, there is a little story to it.
It wasn't planned at the time that I would get one and at that time I hadn't fallen under the spell of Sabbat all that long ago. In 2004, I had only recently gotten in touch with the very special Japanese label Heavy Metal Super Star Records, I became aware of some patches that the label owner Yohta was putting out. At that time it was almost impossible to get even the simplest embroidered logo patch of Sabbat. So I emailed him directly about it and wanted to order them all. To my great disappointment, they were already sold out, as he only had 15 -25 of each of the 10 different motifs made, which were then gone very quickly. BUT, he then made me another offer which really blew me away.
He had a jeans jacket sewn by his wife for an LP release with almost all, except two of these patches, and additionally printed with the faces of the band in the screen printing process. In addition, the printed faces were personally signed by the band. A Japanese model was then to wear them and be featured on the cover of the Live Hamagurism LP. This happened and the LP was already out at that time and he didn't need this jacket anymore. He wrote me, for a good offer I could have it. I made him that offer and the jacket was mine.
About two weeks later I held it in my hands. As a bonus I got a patch of the same kind from the Live Wacko Box, on which the said model is wearing exactly this jacket. But I couldn't put it on yet, because the model was quite petite. So without much thought I cut off the sleeves and it fit me perfectly. I rearranged the patches a bit and added two logo patches to the front, probably the only ones available at the time, one from Iron Pegasus and one from Devil's Arts Productions (if anyone still knows them). As I mentioned not all of the patches were on this jacket, a version of "Fetishism" and the "The Devil's Sperm Is Cold" were sadly missing. With a little luck I was able to find the one, but the other one I could get only years later, so long another printed bootleg had to serve for it. I then add an unofficial printed ...For Satan And Sacrifice, made some more buttons on the front. Finally I cut the yellow logo out of the "Far East Blacking Metal" backpatch from NWN!, sewed it on a part of the cut sleeve and sewed the "Lovefire" (There is a HMSS LP with the title) on the back over the faces. I didn't want to have that on the back though. The yellow logo fit well with the shirts with the individually printed heads, which Yohta already brought out some time ago. You can find them here at my shirts at the very beginning
If I had gotten the jacket today, I probably wouldn't change it like that and treat it as a collector's item. Also, these patches are not very durable in the long run. They are probably the first attempts from Japan as far as sublimation printing goes and this method was probably not quite perfected at the time. Therefore I made my second tribute vest, which should be a bit more robust. I still like to wear this one, but it's a bit more rare, at my last Sabbat concert it was there anyway.
Well, if anyone was interested in my somewhat longer story about the vest here, I appreciate it and anyone I bored with it may forgive me.

This is a truly stunning piece of histor, and it was a pleasure to read through the story behind it. Thanks for sharing this with us!
I understand that today you probably wouldn't make any changes on the jacket at all, but to be fair: It does look better with the changes you've made. And it's a collector's piece nonetheless.

I'm glad that you like the story and that there are apparently a few users here who like to read through such things.
That's right, that it looks better that way. There's a certain ambivalence in me that says put the vest in a display case and never touch this collector's item again and then when Sabbat play a concert again, the piece gets pumped full of sweat and beer.
