This is my idk maybe 4th jacket I've made? I have a few more, but I could never get the full "blanket" jacket I've always wanted..So far I've finished one side and pinned down the start of the other. It's clearly not complete, but I'm hoping to finish the entire front this month (hopefully)

Far too many bootleg patches for my tastes.

Why does it matter? That just seems pretty snobbish to me. If they where shitty bootlegs I could understand you, but hating a patch just because it's bootleg is a bit elitist.

There are good bootlegs out there. A lot of these (Pestilence, Overkill, Slowly We Rot, Schizophrenia) look terrible when compared the originals. I know they may be appealing since they are cheaper, but it doesn't change the poor craftmanship.

It's a bit hard to tell from this picture, but I don't think they look too horrible. Maybe it's only visible if looked at up close, but from what I can tell they look perfectly acceptable. Maybe a bit to bright and crayon-ish for my taste, but not what I'd call appalling.
Then again I'm only going by this picture.

Guess I'm just an elitist snob then.

Or I can't be arsed to do the proper research. ^^

I know they're bootlegs but sometimes you have to make do with what you can get your hands on. Personally I could care less if patches are real or bootleg. It should be about the music regardless:) either way I can understand where you're coming from dude. Much respect either way

I like the way it goes . There are so many ugly vintage patches out there.
Vintage and original doesn't mean nice and awesome. - It is nice, if YOU like it.
A lot of people swear on vintage patches on their vests, but haven't even been born, when the patches were released. That's crazy, isn't it?
Claudandus on
If you like something, go ahead and buy it. Nothing crazy about that.
But obsessing over "vintage" and "first press" and stuff like that always seems a bit silly to me. Like you are more interested in the bragging rights than the patch/album itself.
I think vintage patches have a certain charm to them with the few colors, big stitches, spartan designs, the white dots you always get on the black background etc. But there is no way I'm paying 50+ euros for some arbitrary street cred. I've never given more than about 10€ for a regular patch, and I don't plan on starting now.
What I'm getting at is that vintage is nice, but that's it. It's a nice thing to have, but if I can get a similar design with decent quality for the price of a pack of smokes I'd rather get that.

Some really great bands, Keen to see what else you add.

Thanks bro!

I agree with doom box I have many patches that are rare / vintage that came out way before I was even though of. But I do like the lay though ! But vintage just adds a better quality.
Random_metalhead on
Oh for sure dude..I actually have a few vintage patches myself that are going to be added to this jacket (iron maiden purgatory, Massacre Dawn of eternity, and Metallica jump in the fire)

Ooh... everything is perfect but Carnifex kiiiinda ruins it a little for me. However, it's your vest, so more power to you for putting whatever the fuck you're into on it. Looking forward to seeing the other side fill out!
