Power of the Night is my favorite savatage album, then comes Hall of the Mountain King, and third, their first album, Sirens!
I can hear everything they wrote till 1993 (Edge of Thorns)! Their existance as a band after Criss's death, is pointless imho!
I am honestly not too familiar with their complete discography but i know that i loved (!) the EP, and especially Sirens and Hall of the Mountain King. The first EP has just a massive typical US Metal Vibe and i adore that. Great Vocals.
Only the "Fight for the Rock" Album was pointless to me...
Fight for the Rock is not their best album but contains epic songs like "Red Light Paradise" and "The Edge Of Midnight" for example.. 2 very underated songs because a not-so-good release!
Ok, thanks for the recommendation! I will check them out then again, often the (among the) best songs from Bands are on their weaker albums, for example "Blood Red Skies" on Ram it down which is quite weak in my opinion.
There are probably more examples but this one always comes to mind.
Yes, indeed! But it doesn't really matter if "bad" albums hide "diamonds", if someone wants to find something special in a band, he will listen the whole dscography even if its 20 albums, and he won't give a sh@t if the album sucks! That's what I am doing. It's on everyone's taste, and mood! And also a song that I like, maybe you might now like.. These things are unstable... Many albums and bands are buried because of bad reviews in zines and media, people never listeng an album because of a bad review in MH&HM for example, and if they heard the album without reading the reviews or the fan's talk, they might loved the album or the band! These things are always happening!
I prefer to buy an album and rate it with my own "terms" or "taste" than to read a bullsh@t review on the net and lose the chance to buy a very good album because someone didn't liked it! I always avoid reviews!
The same thing happens when someone promotes shitty bands and buries "the good" ones only and only for the industry money...
These things should always be a personal job!
Yes good points, though i would not see it that harsh. I in fact very often read reviews, just because i naturally absorb everything that has to do with this music i just love and live. It comes naturally. But i always try not to let it affect me too much and still check out albums that get completely destroyed by the critics.
About the other topic: Yeah, of course... there are so many bands at the moment that are basically written to the top by companies and big zines. And so many forgotten jewels. But oh well
I am very nervous as a character so I try to avoid reading reviews! hahaha
I listen many bands that reviews buried them... They can't touch me anymore (the reviews)
Hahaha!
As long as the Bands still touch You: All good! By the way i am desperately looking forward to some new material of Your compatriots of Wrathblade!
Convixion from Athens (their singer is Strikelight's guitarist, I've seen then twice, they released their last album 2 months ago): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gkpmZrrsv8
Not? That's interesting if You're into Bands like Battleroar and Marauder! At least in my view they come from the same spirit so to say. Battleroar were alsways one of my favorite (not only Greek) Epic Metal Bands and the addition of Gerrit was not as bad as i feared (I love Sacred Steel but i really loved the old BR Singer aswell!)
Strikelight and Convixion i do know and i got the Condemnation on Vinyl, the other ones i will check out! Thanks alot for the recommendations!
My favorite Greek Bands have to be Wrathblade, Battleroar, Crush, and another one i just don't remember the name now. But there are probably much, much more. And of course Black Sword Thunder Attack. ;)
Cheers mate!
Edit: Oh and of course the mighty Dexter Ward!!!
