Awesome catch man! 🤘😆🤘 It's a real awesome back patch. Voidcrew has a hell of a lot of bootleg back patches, I don't 😊
The Live after Death design looks a bit like the Iron-On-Transfer print, which you can recognize by their licensing in a white box. It definitely looks vintage to me.
Regarding your questions:
That the back patch is flimsy is probably a sign of usage. New back patches, even the bootlegs, are generally quite "stiff" where as used back patches have significantly reduced stiffness, or even appear flimsy.
The patch still looks in a great condition for a used back patch.
Thanks for the info! And the link to the other picture (I guess i missed that one), I appreciate it.
There is no copyright or licensing on this patch so I was maybe thinking it could be an old bootleg, but I'm still wondering just because of how good this looks (compared to other Maiden bootlegs from the 80s) if it's maybe just a really rare official.
You are touching here on the discussing whether a non-licensed back patch is official or not. I think that for these vintage back patches it is very hard to figure out, and there is definitely a possibility that this is tan official one. However, when looking at vintage Maiden back patches, licensing already started on the Killers back patches. Still, this is not proof that a non-licensed patch is not official.
Have a look at modern Maiden patches. The Legacy of the Beast 4 patch set is definitely official as it is sold at the band's merch stand, but these patches are not licensed.
Maybe there are some old school collectors who know whether your back patch is official or not. Anyway, it is a very beautiful back patch you got your hands on! 🤘😆🤘
I agree there, hands down best Maiden art! Similarly, Number of the Beast was the first metal album I ever owned. I really want to get a Maiden tattoo too when I'm older, but I'm having trouble deciding to get either this one or the Purgatory art!
Looking into th... on
Looks killer, congrats!!
