Dyeing a Patch Border Red...

Greetings to all, I have a couple of questions regarding repainting the patch border. Does anyone have any experience here? the patch that I want only comes with a white border, but I have a certain scheme in which it will look too silly if it remains white. I want to paint it red, but I have no idea what kind of dye or paint I need to make it look great.

I want it to look Bestial red >:D too, but I have no idea what brand red color do I need? or which works best. refill pen ink red? Or ordinary red paint? I need help since I don’t have many white border patches to experiment with.

Of course! Just bought a Acrylic Paint Marker on Amazon as well. Going to try both soon.

Never done before, never bothered to do ...but a good idea, in case u tried it then...let us know how 'good' it works :)

I’ll do this for the first time, trying, since I love this patch, but it will not match at all if I keep it with a white border. I hope this experiment works well.

For sure. I'll cry if the inner art get's ruined lol.

it's a bit different story but I once gave a white logo patch I thought to be a bit boring some "blood splatter look" by putting small dots of red paint on the white embroidery. One thing I noticed is that it sucked up a lot of the paint and it bled into other areas at well. Ofc my thing was meant to be messy but definitely watch out it doesn't bleed into the rest of the patch with some kind of sponge effect.

I will definitely look like a surgeon with a firm hand applying the dye. I can’t afford to make mistakes lol.

Or just remove the border and sew a new one?

At first I laughed at your comment, then I thought about it. The inner art of the patch will not start to wear out and fray without the presence of the original border?

doomtilldeath's picture

It wont fray if you sew a new border on it or melt the edges (like lasercut patch)

I see. If the dyeing or coloring process looks like crap, I will have to try your idea, thanks man.

It's a bloody battle vest just bleed it red or get it dirty. Should not be too difficult with white. One festival should do it :)

Lol, I'm a bedroom metalhead.

Blood can be drawn in a bedroom too hahaha cheers I hope it works out for you!

I dye patches all the time. There are a few great options: "Stained By Sharpie" pens and Tulip fabric dye markers are perfect for patches. Check out my 2021 vest in my profile if you want to see how they turn out.
