Im a huge supporter of the local and Eastern European scene that comes here and I wondered what are your favorite bands from here doesn't need to be metal only
So no Poland, Czechia etc... let's see: Gods Tower (Belarussia), Zaratustra (Bulgaria), On Wings (Bulgaria), Iudicium (Bulgaria), Nightsky Bequest (Bulgaria), Wiccan Rede/Negură Bunget (Romania), Makrothumia (Romania), Branikald (Russia), Thy Repentance (Russia), Moon Far Away (Russia)... I'm almost certainly forgetting a lot of them, but especially Gods Tower and Zaratustra are big overall faves of mine, have been for a long time! Oh, Alkonost, how could I (almost) forget them!
Non-metal: Виолетов генерал and Нова генерация I used to be quite fond of, a tape trader friend dubbed me some of their material back in the 90's.
Happy to see people enjoy Нова генерация outside of Bulgaria if you are looking for something similar to them I couldn't recommend you more Voyvoda and Психо багажник
I like a lot of non-metal bands from there... Отава Ё, Дискотека “Авария”, Dubioza Kolektiv, fun party music
Bulgaria and the Balkans have great traditional tunes, I will still learn a new Horo when I find one I like
Definitely I love traditional music I know it's kinda stupid and I'm not sure if you're in to folk metal but check out Балканджи it combines amazing Bulgarian folk music with metal and I think you might love it
Gromoverzh (StringsSkald's "new" project, he wrote all Temnozors music in the past), Deus Mortem (Necrosodom is fucking awesome), Thunderbolt, Mgla, Plaga, Furia (all though not really my thing), Infernal War, Ragehammer, Azarath (although, I only really like one album), Drevorod, Nokturnal Mortum are coming to my mind.
Most of these are from Poland and share members but maybe there is something in there you don't know. Really recommend Drevorod's 2024 album if you like atmospheric/pagan Black Metal.
hm.....i think some Poland or Czechia bands i have/like in my collection....i guess that dont counts..haha...
Slaughter to Prevail are OK...(at least - on stage)...which are from Russia, right? ....hm....
Every band which comes in mind form eastern europe is BM and i dont like BM ....damn...
If you want me to recommend you other band's from here and eastern Europe that aren't black metal I have a huge amount from alternative rock to grunge and hardcore punk and a lot of death metal and doom as well
I really enjoy the polish Bands Wolf Spider and Exul. If that counts: the east german Band Depressive Age. that formed right after the fall of the Berlin Wall which was before in the DDR called "Blackout".
I didn't dind anything from Blackout since recording stuff in the DDR was nearly impossible. So search for depressive Age. "Lying in wait" and "First depression" are great thrash records. The other records are more prog and Industrial but I love all their stuff

If you count Poland and the Czech Republic, then Decapitated, Behemoth, Vader, Behemoth, Mgła and Master's Hammer are great
