Yeah, me too. Also, I prefer customised stuff, this particular Re-animator back patch used to be a tshirt that was too small, hah. Eraserhead is too sick, man. Too sick.
i have ordered a tetsuo: the iron man patch (i think you'll know that movie, if not, its worth a try), and 2 patches from horror mangas for my new vest. can't wait to have them.
That sounds awesome. Uzumaki is one of the best things I've ever read. Ito as a whole is one awesome author.
The other one is unfamiliar, will have to check it out. I was accually preying for some new reading material tonight.
ever read any of shintaro kago's works? he is my favorite author. he has some of the most Original works out there. i can't even explain it. if you don't know him yet read: abstraction, drunkard condo syndrome, the memories of others, the big funeral, blow up. short stories, with some realy original use of the panels and a mindfucking end.
(there will be sex)
Thanks! Me too, I'm absolute sucker for horror films, especially from the 70s and 80s. I'd have 30 battle jackets just to have all my favourites as backpatches, but thanks goodness that's not possible :D
I'd dare you to start this trend. One Zombie movie themed, another one dedicated to Vincent Price. Hell, I'd made a Film Noir jacket, if I'd find the material.
Hands down, you almost nailed my two favourite categories :D I'd have one for 70s Italian horror as well, already have some Dario Argento pins and a Frankenstein (1931) patch on my other jacket. I don't think I know too many Nour films, what are the ones you like?
I saw the Frankenstein patch, that one looks damn cool, but to be honest I wasn't sure at first if there's a band with that name, haha! Bela Lugosi is great, of course, still I'm more into Film Noir. "Where the Sidewald Ends" is very good and almost anything with Dana Andrews. Then there are the classics, like "The Maltese Falcon" and anything else starring Humphrey Bogart. There is also a really great Film Noir called "Blast of Silence", which is really amazing for it's generally misanthropic atmosphere. Also Neo-Film Noirs like The Machinist and, of course, Fight Club are amazing.
Oh I see, I know Dana Andrews. I will check some of these out. The original Nosferatu is superb, how amazing things can be achieved even with no speaking. If that's the German Nosferatu you're talking about, some of that soundtrack still creeps me out.
Yes, I meant the German one from 1922. I love the soundtrack too. I've watched it a few years ago publicly at night, were the music was played by an orchestra, which was cool, but it didn't evoke the same creepy atmosphere.
I'd like to know what you think of the films I suggested after you've seen them. Maybe they'll even remind you of movies you like that I haven't watched or maybe don't even know yet. This is always interesting.
Ok, great. I've seen Fight Club 2 or 3 times but something in it bugs me, not a huge fan. Maybe I should read the book. For me it feels like they're trying too hard. Do you like Italian horror?
The book is actually fantastic, Chuck Palahniuk is an awesome writer. The ending is even a bit different too, but I'm not going to spoil it for you, in case you decide to read the book. The movie is full of recursive references as is the book, and it's a fun experience to find these. I like both the movie and the book for their phenomenal psychological games and hints. But of course that's a matter of taste.
Yes, Italian Horror is great, even apart from the older ones, I particularly like "Beyond The Darkness" and "Cannibal Apocalypse". Gory and sick is always good, lol.
Hm, can't think of Cannibal apocalypse one. So you like more like Lucio Fulci kind of horror, I'm more into less-gore more suspence ones like Phenomena, Profondo Rosso etc. The problem with me used to be that I watched horror daily so at some point zombie films became all the same to me, no thrill at all. Currently I'm taking a break, have seen so much horror over the years my mind is damaged irreparably :D
Haha, that's not necessarily a bad thing :P Suspense is also great, there are more, I just named what came to my mind first. On Zombie movies I always like the dystopic atmosphere more than the gore.
