Very much a work in progress due to me being unsure about how to proceed, my latest creation is a Flecktarn battle jacket. These are very hard to get looking right; I had actually basically finished this jacket sometime ago but spent most of this morning tearing apart what I'd already done because it just looked too 'manufactured'. I didn't take any pictures of the original iteration, so it's truly gone for good!
The jacket itself started as a Flecktarn camouflage German army shirt. I used the cut off sleeves to create large inside pockets (shown) and then added Velcro closures to the pockets as well. This should make this jacket much more practical at shows, etc. I also removed the zip from the front because it's just not necessary. I thought the epaulettes were a decent touch though so I left them alone.
My intention for this jacket now is for it to be a Kreator tribute (with the notable exception of the mandatory Iron Maiden 'The Clairvoyant' patch on the left breast pocket, part of my necessary trademark and the only remnant from my first attempt to sew this jacket). It seems appropriate, a German band on a German jacket! I used a HUGE custom BP I made from the t-shirt that came with my Gods of Violence album box set (I can't believe there's no official GoV BP - its such badass artwork!) and I stitched the Kreator lanyard that came with the same set onto one of the inside pockets as well. Then I hit a bit of a mental block... I don't think I want to add anything else to the back of this jacket but I have a few spare Kreator patches (shown) and don't currently have any inspiration as to where to sew them.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'm certainly open to them!
Thanks for looking.
