None Inverted Pentagram (with) Theban Scripture.

OK...

So I know there are about a million pentagrams on the internet, and probably uploaded on here as well, so this is nothing too special. I just wanted to share it with you all because this one kind of "popped out" at me. I don't really know why, I just really like it. The fact that the scripture is raised is pretty cool.

Here's some knowledge, catch!

"The origins of the Theban alphabet are lost in the mists of time. It is often called "The Runes of Honorius" after its reputed inventor, Honorius of Thebes. It is also known as the 'Witch's Alphabet' (because it is used in modern Witchcraft to hide magical writings from prying eyes).

Notable features

Type of writing system: alphabet

Direction of writing: left to right in horizontal lines

There is a one-to-one correspondence between letters of the Theban and Latin alphabets with the exception of the letters j and u. These letters are represented by the letters for i and v.

The Theban alphabet is used by witches to write spells, inscriptions and other texts. It serves to disguise the meaning of a text and to give it a mystical quality."

There you have it.

I apologize for my crappy camera, by the way.

Very cool. At first I was like... are those sparkles... hahaha. The question is, what does it say? :P

LaUlvenDrepe's picture

Hahaha, damn those sparkles! :D

I wish I had an answer to your question, because I have asked myself the same. The Theban alphabet is translated into regular English all over the internet, but I'm too lazy to hold this thing and go letter by letter to see what it actually says. :/

VoiceOfTheSoul's picture

Well I'm sure if anyone asks you could just make something up, doubtful they would know the difference! Btw where did you get it? Been looking for a good pentagram for a long time but all I can find is ugly cheap shit D:

LaUlvenDrepe's picture

I know what you mean.

Anyway, it was made by Alchemy Gothic (I'm not sure if they have any left, but you can try to see what you find)... but I got it on eBay in an auction.

VoiceOfTheSoul's picture

Can't find any more :\ But.. dat seller... dayum haha!

Looks fucking great. I have an inverted Pentagram at all time around my neck under my shirts since the I was 14. It's special to me and never ever have removed it from my neck. Yours does look cooler mine is plain without writing.

Wow, that's a long time man! I admire your dedication.

The inverted pentagram means a lot to me as well. I don't know in what way it means something to you, or rather... what it symbolizes for you. To me, it symbolizes my ties and love for the occult, that's pretty much it. I love the story of how Lucifer broke away from the herd mentality of following under the pretentious tyranny of God and wanted to become his own deity. That's just fascinating to me.

Don't get me wrong though, while that story is a kind of inspiration for me, I don't practice either theistic Satanism nor LaVeyan Satanism. I mean, in my opinion the whole LaVeyan concept of being your own god sounds interesting, but I mean to me it's strange to see how they want to think for themselves, but at the same time live by some kind of code which basically models itself after Satan.

Plus, anything that promotes any kind of "religion" is a big no-no for me. Even respectable religions need to go away if you ask me. If the mainstream religions we have now were to banish, other religions would be in their place. People just want to cling on to this notion of spending a lifetime wondering why we are here, and where we come from... instead of actually living their lives to the fullest until death comes. Why can't we just find out then? What's the rush?

As far as God is concerned, I think it's perfect normal human psychology to WANT there to be something there to help us in times of grief and desperation. Something... "greater" or beyond ourselves. But really, why convince yourself and others of something that has yet to be proven or proven against?

That's just my view. I don't mean to start a religious war here (or do I?... no, I don't, haha)... but I just had to put my philosophy out there for whatever reason. Please, PLEASE I beg you... good people of tshirtslayer, don't kill each other (or me, for that matter) verbally over this post.

VoodooChild's picture

Yo man, thanks for taking the time too explain about yours (and I definitly share your love for occult) butI can't respond now cuz of being very busy with something but definitly will respond too why I wear the thing tomorrow, but you really made me curious about something: When you say hou don't follow either Laveyan or Theistic Satanism you spend alot more time explani g what you thhink of LaVeyan than Theistic... And just wondering so definitly no offense, but is this coincidence or bevause I state being an LaVeyan in my 'about me' section. Just curious I always like peoples views on everything and am really just curious, I see how I might sound ' defending' in this post but I really am not. Just... Curious. My pentagram has little to do with my filosofy btw :P will post tommorow. Now continue with school...

No problem man.

I spent more time explaining my views on LaVeyan Satanism not because you are one yourself, no... but because I think it's pretty obvious what I and most people think of the theistic kind. It's just Christianity's opposite. It's actually believing in both God and the Devil and choosing to live and fight for Satan's side.

Let's put it this way... if God and Satan end up being real (as in, their description in the Bible personified) I would like to say that I choose to follow none. Obviously I don't know what I'd do in the end, but as it stands now I choose to follow no one. I consider myself individualistic, yet I am not ashamed to ask for help. However, asking for help is a far cry from the word "worship" now, isn't it? In my opinion worshiping is placing yourself beneath someone, which is wrong no matter which way you do it. No one is better than you, and you are better than no one. That's how I see it.

I have yet to meet a theistic Satanist in person.

I'd personally like it if there was an afterlife, and some sort of being who truly wants to help you in all ways possible. Not as a self-worshiping authority figure (which is my definition of "God"), but as gay as it sounds, a friend. A source of knowledge and help, if you will. Maybe I'm just a dreamer, I don't know. But all I can say is that I hope that neither God nor the Devil are real, not in the way they are personified in that damned fucking book. I hope this explains everything.

All this "individuality" talk got me remembering, haha. I remember an example of the "maverick" philosophy and lifestyle that one of my high school English teachers told the class once. He asked:

"What would a true maverick do if he found himself at a cross-road in the middle of the jungle? Would he take the road most traveled? Or would he take the lesser known and mostly avoided route?"

Everybody was like... "yeah, the lesser known one, to be different than the rest."

Well, the answer was none of the above. He said "a true maverick would take out a machete and make his own road."

That always stuck with me, and while it hasn't been useful in EVERY single event in life, it has been very helpful overall, in general. I don't do things to be different, I think things out, ask for help if needed, take some things into consideration, others not... and finally decide. I always try to make the best choice for ME. But everybody is different, of course. What is right for me might not be right for others, so I never criticize.

VoodooChild's picture

Cool story about the Maverick. I asked about the LaVeyan part simply because I have the (bad) habit to wanting to know everything and why someone does something and blablabla... SO I just had to ask. Too come back at your Maverick story I would be the one that would ask why he made his own path, and what exactly was the difference between the other two... Anyhow: I wear my Pentagram simply because it was bought by me just because I liked it and something really good happened exactly when I first wore it to school that day and never put it off since I believed it was an lucky charm, when I 'converted' to LaVeyism 2 years later I had an second reason to never remove it from my neck. And one thing I definitly agree with you on is the part about The Church Of Satan being ridicilous. I follow an religion that's about MYSELF so I'm not gonna pay $200,- to become part of an group, so I can worhsip myself? Isn't that contra? I don't have respect or anything for the current Magus, though I do own all his writings but then again I own every book published about LaVeyism. I do have great Respect for LaVey ofcourse. But I only use it for personal use, as an personal filosofy. And ofcourse I do not accept, agree and follow everything blindly, but most of it I agree for most of it and can't find myself in the writings of 'the black Pope'. Though I do not feel anything for being part in an 'Satanic Brotherhood' (I mean worhsipping ourselves in groups?) I do have found people thanks to LaVeyism who I consider Brother (one who is rather obvious if you take an good look at the comments on this post :P) wich are awesome people who help me alot with shit wich is possible cuz we think 'the same'. So that was about me and my pentagram and about my views of LaVeyism. Following LaVeyism for me means becaue it's an Atheistic religion that I do not believe in an god, afterlive, spirits or anything. If you die, you die. End of story. Wich some people find strange is that though I do not believe in afterlive and spirits, I do read Tarotcards, and do alot of occult rituals. But I do not believe they are being helped by Spirit, or Dead people. What Ido believe in that is called on in this rituals is hard to explain. I can tell you it's not Satan as an deity with horns and an pitchfork.

I have yet to meet an Theistic Satanist too. Would be interesting to talk to I think. There was this user on here (who was banned 3 times) who claimed to be Theistic Satanist though, and he Hated LaVeyism.

LaUlvenDrepe's picture

Banned three times huh? Haha, sounds like he was probably one hell of a dick.

I definitely respect your views and philosophy, especially since you don't follow those specific teachings 100%

It would be fine if you did, but I like that you put your touch to it, and make it personal and mold it to yourself.

Personally, I'm an agnostic, not an atheist. The same concept applies to the afterlife for me. I have no reason to believe in it, or claim that I know it does not exist. To me it just hasn't either been proven or proven against. I've talked to several old people who have claimed they've "seen things" because they have died for a few minutes and have been brought back to life. I just have to laugh whenever I hear something that stupid.

I mean, the words of God and the image of this "heaven" is molded into our minds EVERY fucking day of our lives. On ads, on American money, on television, in books, and in a million other things. Isn't it more possible that what you saw was some sort of psychological trauma than the actual thing?

I mean, if they would have all seen the same thing then it's a different story. But no, on the contrary, they all saw something different and ridiculous. One lady saw floating heads and thought it was heaven because one of them said so. Yeah... sure.

To answer your question about the story of what it means to be a maverick. Well... what I gather from the story is that the road most traveled was probably the safe way. Most people took it because it was already well known. The road less traveled was probably the one for the adventurers. The people who go out of their way to be different (as if that was anything good. I say be yourself, period. TRYING to be different is just as stupid as trying to fit in) looking for thrills and excitement. So I would say it was probably a dangerous road.

But the maverick sits and thinks. The best thing was to make his own road because it's 100% new. It is neither too safe and known, and it was adventurous enough because it is new, but not known to be dangerous.

I hope I'm explaining myself.

VoodooChild's picture

Ah though thanks for answering the maverick question it wasn't an 'real question' (though I still really wondered, but I wonder about everything) more of an example how I think. Another example is when someone has to decide to wear one shirt or another, and chooses one, I will ask him why. It can be an bad habit I have but I have to know things when they pop up in my head. Seriously watching an Movie with me is hell.... 'why dis he die?' 'Why did he betray them?' etc etc... That's why being agnostic would fucking kill me.... Living knowing that you can not have the answer of something is something I can not. SO for me: NO GOD, NO AFTERLIFE. That's it. Otherwise I really go crazy. Hah definitly about the people who claim to have seen things, The 'white light' people with near death experiences claim to see has been proven to be morfine that's being produced in your brain for example... and those people who see things while being out never heard of so called 'dreams' indeed? With not 100% It definitly is 90% though, I mean I do decide to call myself LaVeyan but everything has flaws... I mean it was written by an human. And paying for it is ridicilous.

The user who was banned was Baalberith (also known as Snopale and alot of other names) Who sold Black Metal merch for ridicilous prices and tried to ripp people off. He also was very Homofobic and Antisemitic to the point is was so unbelievable stupid it became more funny than really offending or anything. Never seen him? Trying to be different is just as stupid indeed hah. That's the only definition of Poser IMO. Poser is being used the wrong way lately hah. Anyhow, thanks for answering my questions.

LaUlvenDrepe's picture

No problem dude.

You do sound like a pain in the ass to watch a movie with, haha (no offense).

I do remember that user, yes. He was an odd one.

Good point about the word "poser" by the way. I feel as if that word has been tossed around more times than a drunk midget hooker. It is definitely used the wrong way, and has been ever since I can remember. In high school... ughh. That's the only word you would hear. Anytime an artist would make a song that was *slightly different in any way... that's it! "THEY ARE POSERS!"

Fuck man, that always irritated me like hell.

I think true artists are those that make the music out of musical integrity, for the sake of artistry... not money. They don't make music for the fans, that's just stupid... a real musician has to make music as an emotional and cerebral outlet for HIS/HER mind.

But of course the word poser can be applied to anybody, not just musicians. People don't see it that way, though.

To me, a poser is somone who tries to be somebody that they are not. It is that simple.

It's such a simple concept to grasp, yet you have NO idea how many times I have had to give that fucking explanation.

VoodooChild's picture

Yeah that's what I mean with poser: trying to be something just for being that and not for it being you or liking it, just to fit in (or to not fit in, alot of people seem to not like things they like for the sake of not being mainstream)

what I tried to say for it being used wrong is that people tend to use it for someone who isn't 'trve' they say poser, and simply for not liking an band, or like one that is not 'trve' is wrong IMO since well, person isn't trying to be anything at all. They are themselves so not posers, having an bad music taste or not has nothing to do with that you know what I'm saying? And posing is used nowadays for people who are like that, instead of people who try to fit in simply for the sake of fitting in.
