So...I was wondering what some of the older metalheads think and how they feel about old band shirts. Thing is, I recently acquired a Mayhem shirt, that to my knowledge was released along with the LP of Live in Leipzig by Last Episode Records, Germany. I am big fan of Live in Leipzig and to me, personally, this album captures the sheer brilliance of a band in its prime and relentless music that is so full of energy. I can only imagine what a concert it would have been. Needles to say, I did not listen to Black Metal in 1997 and missed out on this release and a chance to get a shirt. But, lately I've been lucky enough and was able to get a shirt in decent shape, thanks to Mr. UlvenDrepe! This made me wonder though, how do older metalheads feel about youngsters buying all these vintage/out-of-print band shirts? I've seen people wearing shirts way older than them?
I am just speculating and curious. I do not care at all about hipsters/trendies or whatever and bashing is not the point of this forum topic (though some may choose to do so!). I just wanna hear what people have to say.
I personally don't go out of my way or pay huge amounts to buy shirts as I'd rather use that money to support more underground artists or whatever. This Mayhem shirt was a first for me in that I payed closer to 40$ for it and it is old! Never have I done that before. But, I'd like to mention that this release, the shirt and Mayhem's line up of the early 90's have been very influential to me growing up as a metal-head teen, and were stepping stones in my getting to know Black Metal. I hold this shirt dear to me for these reasons.
Look forward to hearing what you peeps think!
PS: I am not that young. 25 now!
