i know its so fucked up. there are certain people that you just cant fathom the possibility that theyll pass on and Dio was certainly one of them. I have been playing his stuff all day started with Rainbow and working my way up to his last album. But i know that Dio put his heart and soul into every song he performed so as long as the records continue to be played Dio will forever live and will never truly die, every time a new metalhead discovers Dio he will continue to live and every time someone flashes the metal horns Dio will continue to live. He has the Sacred Heart and will live forever

This is shocking and terrible. Dio was truly my first taste of real heavy metal and I can't believe it's even true. I've been blasting the Last in Line and now am going to throw on some early Rainbow. He'll always live in my heart.

This is all so wrong. I thought he was doing great against the stomagh cancer, and he had all these plans for upcoming tours. I thought I might get the chance to actually see Dio live either with the origional band or with Black Sabbath, or Heaven and Hell. I just wanted to see him.

Damn, just woke up to this sad news. Dio was a fucking legend. I'll never forget when he pointed right at me on the Heaven & Hell tour and chucked up the horns. He was definately one o the good guys, and one of the best (the best?) singer in metal.

damn, this day started so good, and when I came home I heard the news from a friend of mine. it's so fucked up to be living in this generation, the generation in which all metal artist are starting to get old, a month ago it was Peter Steele, now it's Dio, who will be next

i learned this over facebook and thought my firend was just pissing around, im devastated i never saw dio, i made plans to see him in heaven and hell at bloodstock this year and when he toured england at the end of last year, but obviously now that will never happen.

I never knew at the time that these first words I heard sung by Dio would stick by me so long.

When first reading confirmation of the news, I got goosebumps- but during and after listening to hours of Dio, Sabbath and Rainbow, I feel both down and up.
The great thing about not only Dio, but about respectable metal in general, is that the fans are ruthlessly loyal- Dio was so instrumental in pioneering the metal sound, and contributed so much to the genre, the loyal fans shall never forget him, and will pass down his music to younger fans and their children alike; and thus Ronnie James Dio has, over his great and lengthy career, immortalized himself within the world of metal.
We mourn the loss of a true legend of metal as we celebrate the man and the music.
Keep rocking up in heaven Dio.
