Basically, if it's going in your vest and staying there for good, do it. But if you're considering selling it in the future for millions of rupees or keeping it for collection purposes, keep it in the package. I'd personally open it, but I don't have a problem with sewing vintage or die-hard patches to my vest. Don't see much of a point in collecting things you're not going to use :p
Really good point. I don't really see myself selling this patch now that I finally have it. I'll be sewing it on sometime in the near future, so that it may finally be used for its intended purpose.
I agree with the previous comments. Unless you're deliberating on selling it, if you put it on your jacket you'll see it more and enjoy it more often.
I'm guilty of hording away certain t-shirts coz I don't want to wear them out or risk damaging them, so it's sort of hypocritical of me to say that, but in the end it'd be cooler to have the patch on your jacket than festering away in a drawer for someone else to worry about opening/using after you pass on.
If you die with this I'm coming to your grave, At the end of the day you might be able to find another, if not using it will still give you satisfaction, Ask yourself....What would Tom do?

I know.. but what about its worth in the future blah blah blah.

well, it wont matter if it is in packaging or not as it will still be worth basically the same as long as its kept in good condition.

LIVE FAST, DIE YOUNG (in a denim jacket covered in rare patches)*
*.... I don't actually agree with that, but it's a joke about 100% MAMBO shorts (Reg Mombasa).
