Recently bought a nice sleeveless shirt.
Two problems: it’s a bit wide but it also the collar has been taken off.
Problem with the width is easily solved by having a tailor cut up the sides. Not really a fan of this solution, but it’s still better than looking likr a bag of potatoes, which I think always happens with sleeveless oversized shirts.
Back to the collar. Does anyone here have any experience with taking off the collar from another shirt and have it stitched on the collarless one? If so, how was the result? Any tips for the procedure?

I have done a bit of sewing but never replaced a collar. A zipper yes, but not a collar.
Ripping the collar off another shirt should be pretty straightforward. Putting it onto the other shirt may depend on how the old one was removed. If it was cut out unevenly it might be tough. If you can still see the old stitch marks and it has a seam edge it will be easier to do.

...check out picture #3 in this second link. I know its a dress shirt but notice how he has a section of fabric below the actual collar. I think this might be helpful so that you can insert the new collar into the shirt with a flap inside for overlap. After its all stitched in, you can turn things inside out and trim off anything extra.
Good luck with the project!
