Black Sabbath - Into The Void screen printed back patch

This is something I've kept quiet about for a while, but given the success of Corrosive's recent run of printed backpatches, I feel happy to share my own work too. I learned how to design and screen print a couple years ago. I first saw printed patches on tss and thought they were really neat, but wondered why they weren't as viable in today's world (aside monocolour, non-backed punk/grind ones from grindfather/other small distros)

I designed, edited, prepared, printed and machine-sewed these February this year, the idea came to me some time after Ozzy's passing, but I practiced making smaller patches first. I would have been happy with one good-looking end result as I just needed something to fill my doom jacket, but I ended up with 4. I wish I had mixed some white ink with the purple to make it more visible, but as the jacket I'm wearing is white I can forgive the purple looking slightly dull

The original photos are of Alexei Leonov during the first ever space walk (1965), and the first illustrated simulation of a black hole by astrophysicist Jean-Pierre Luminet (1978). My goal was to make a design that newspapers and books at the same time as Master of Reality would have existed. I know the black hole illustration is slightly out that timeframe, but it was the main inspiration for the design. I wanted to picture what an Into The Void single art would have looked like, using the less-is-more approach that Sabbath used for their cover art

All copies pictured will either be used by myself or given to close friends and family. I'm happy to speak more about my process, equipment and materials, and help you make one yourself, but I will never be making more of this design, or selling them.
