I planned to do this for quite a while now. First thoughts began, when I got my hands on that fantastic looking backpatch (some years ago). I always wanted to use it and then thoughts came up: why not making a battle jacket with all the bands that all started it for me. Some of the patches I already had laying around somewhere, some have already been used in former projects (and been removed again), some I bought on ebay.
The hunt for the jacket itself took a while (which was annoying), before I decided to go with a white one this time. (I likes ma jackets in bright denim, don't like dark blue or even black).
On the back, I plan to put on (maybe) 4 more small patches. I have Manowar - Fighting the world, Sepultura - Beneath the remains and Pantera - Vulgar display of power to go on there (and maybe Seasons in the abyss-eagle).
The jacket is obviously not finished yet. There shall be some studs - or some more...
But since I had this week off, I started sewing, because I have been keen on starting for such a long time now.
Anyways, I tried and tried to find the right spots for them patches. The layout you see was the first I thought is ok, but after having sewn the front...Idk...I'm not satisfied with the look. I really can't say why...
.
I know, sometimes less is more, but all the patches (bands) you see were responsible for getting me into Metal back then (mid/late 80s) and therefore mean a lot to me and need to be on that one.
So, if any of you have suggestions...I'd appreciate it.
Cheers! ...and sorry for the long text!

really nice looking vest man! I think you need to add studs, especially for the back

Thank you for your reply. Yes, there will be studs...and maybe some pins and/or buttons.

Great story on what influenced it! I've often thought of doing a jacket for what started it all for me but can't decide on backpatch. Nice taste too.

Thank you very much. And yeah, I hear ya, that is a hard decision. Fortunately for me it wasn't hard to decide as soon as I got that Death Squad BP.

Most welcome matey, that's fate! Sounds like the albums special to you.
Bolzenwerfer on
Yes, it really is. It was somehow the first "real" thrash metal album, I got to know. A classmate of mine taped it for me from his older brother and I was blown away. Before that, I have only known Metallica's "Ride the lightning", but Death Squad is more (idk how to say) "harsh", dirty, rough...more direct. And I know, there are people out there who don't like Olli's voice, but I think it fits the songs/the music perfectly.

That's really cool, my generation burnt CDs or sent over chat programs I'd rather tape trade!! Ride is a good album but there is lots of better Thrash out there, checked out the Death Squad track his vocals kick ass!! To me his vocals are the German way! Harsh / Rough fast paced Thrash at it's finest, need go give the album a spin, thanks!

You're welcome! Yeah, check them out! I guess you'll like!
