Tell us about yourself?:
Got into metal when I was 13 years old. Way back in 1987 In grade 8 there was a kid that had a metal compilation tape called Metal For Breakfast. One spring afternoon he was playing the tape on his boom box. Some of the songs I was indifferent to. But the very last song caught my ear for some reason. Asked him if I could borrow the tape as I really wanted to know who/what that song was. Took it home after school and played the living shit out of that one song. "Crazy Train". Gave him the tape back a few days later and after I did, went to my local record/tape store (in the small town pop.800 I was growing up in, that was the local drugstore) and luckily found a tape of this album that just came out a few months earlier called Tribute. It wasn't the same version of Crazy Train that I heard earlier, though. This one was WAY fucking better. The whole album was. From that point, I was hooked. That summer, I begged an older cousin of mine who was iinto Ozzy, Sabbath, Iron Maiden, etc for anything he had by Ozzy. He lent me 3 cassettes: Blizzard Of Ozz, Diary Of A Madman, and We Sold Our Soul For Rock :n' Roll. And recommended that I should buy another live album called Live After Death. The summer of '87 consisted of me playing the shit out of these 4 albums. Then moving on to the rest of Ozzy and Sabbath's catalog. And in 1988, discovering Metallica for the first time, the rest of Maiden's catalog, and Judas Priest. 30+ years later and my love of metal music is just as fierce as when I discovered iit that summer.
