Agree, I really like the vovin album.
I used to work At the same place as the guy that took over the bass after Lars. Didn't know him but talked to him a bit, very nice guy.
Yeah, it was really cool when I was a teen in the early/mid 90's and constantly saw guys from Unleashed, Dismember and Unanimated. Many talented muscicians.
Fucking awesome. I have the short sleeve one I got from deadstock at some distributor.
Vovin blew my mind when I heard it as a teen in 2000. I liked symphonic metal but had never heard a band before using actual classical instruments and choirs and Therion were like a huge breakthrough... until I discovered Haggard not long after!
I had heard symphony and metallica before then but something about that did not fully connect. I guess because the band wasnt very goth and also you knew that the classical sound was just a one off thing for a concert and it was not integral to the band. Kind of like a weird gymick rathen than a solid idea that would be considered the artist at their best ever.
Thank you seems like they pioneered that sound with that album, when it came out it was like a new Musical style created instantly.
By the way your boots look cool, are they New Rock's? Just bought a pair the other day, the first I saw were back in 96-97 when Therion and Samael guy were sporting them... they are incredible good quality and not many copies for each model, went for a soft design all black
Ahhhh ahahha! Now the pieces of the puzzle are coming together!
Firstoff I saw a pair of New Rock boots at a thrift store a few years ago. Never seen anything like them before. Spanish too! (who dares to wear the heels of Santiago?!!!) lol But I did not offer to buy them because I found there was too many goofy logos all over them I dont like too many logos. And NOW I can see what they come from.
As for my boots, they are a line called Demonia. Demonia were the goth boot company in the USA. Pretty much the only company making them. Demonia boots were cool. But unfortunately they were of very cheap quality. The leather is thin and flakes easily mine are flaking a lot. But Demonia is all we got out here and you cannot find new Demonia mens boots anymore in normal sizes. I always wondered where bands like Theatres des Vampires, Source of Tide, and Anorexia Nervosa got their amazing goth wear. We dont have ANYTHING like that anymore. I bought my Demonias back in 2002 and barely wore them much until recently. And now im sad because they kind of are coming apart.
That's an interesting one, never heard about Demonia, but not surprised by the quality as they may be manufactured in China.
New Rocks are Spanish made and the leather is absolute quality, they never die ... the designs are pretty cool too.
But the goth trend phenomenom is dying since mid 2000s meaning you can easily score second hand good condition models for decent prices here now.... knowing they usually retailed at 220$ new it's time to afford under 100$ deals here easily. Let me know if any interest in sizes or style. Cradle of Filth also used to wear those in their glory days (95-97..)
again I kinda wish they did not have all those logos all over them but I cannot argue with a quality make. Strength is integral. I wish I could find another pair of big black platforms like the ones I have that would fit my tastes or something else like that. I guess I will have to look around new rock's back catalouge and used shoes cause Id rather just buy them used and maybe ill find some with a little less crazy maker logos.
There is no second hand goth in america! The goth style we got here was mostly made mass produce copies of what was kinda going on in music and movies in the 90's but it never got as big as it did in Europe here. All my goth clothes are actually various second-hand womens fashion I got for very cheap at charity stores, sorted through, and found those things that fit me well and looked good to me. I made my gothic style out of digging through donations and matching various items with some alterations here and there. I rarely ever see anyone in the classical goth look anymore these days and if I every do, I always go up to them and strike up a conversation.
Id like to add... its plainly obvious I am a goth in my fav style, but as far as music goes Im a metalhead.
