The only Nihil Nocturne t-shirt in almost 20 years of the band's existence.
What an underrated band! And how much I love it. I discovered them exploring black metal results in Altavista, one of the oldest search engines of the Internet, back in 2002-2003 when any online info about BM was scarce. The band had a website with white background, with only 3 mp3 samples to download. The songs were Black Hearted Hollowing, Todesstoss and Killing Ghost. They took the entire afternoon to download due to the super slow DSL-cable mexican connection. When I finally listened, I was impressed, it was lo-fi done right! Raw black metal that sounded good to my ears, evil, direct and with a charm. When the band released the album Necrohell I knew it would be one of the most special bands for me, with the songs Black Oath of Sacrifice, Born in Blasphemy, Terror Satan Hate Modul and Evil from the Woods having such a haunting evil atmosphere...
And indeed, it's 15 years later and I haven't stopped listening to Nihil Nocturne and loving it. The album Wahnsinn. Tod. Verrat. contains two of their best songs "Conjuring the Tyrant of Hell" and "Demon of the Threshold". They also appeared in two splits I have in a high regard, one of them Gott in Uns, with Deathgate Arckanum (their track La-Bas is amazing and has some unique elements in it), The Ruins of Beverast (what a classic track is Desert Lair!) and Anti (well known DSBM band that managed to make a good song for this split). The other split is a conceptual album called "On the Powers of the Sphinx", with the song "To Dare", that has an epic guitar melody almost in the end. Nightbringer, one of my all-time favorite bands and biggest influences, also appear there with a very catchy song.
Nihil Nocturne have been silent in the last decade, it seems that the guitarist has put his focus mainly on his label Nachtgnosis. I hope they release another album soon, because this is a gem of a band.
