Thu, 22/02/2018 - 08:47Purchased at Fresno show on 12/8/16. A local kid who was a HUGE Mushroomhead fan died from cancer a while back, so they try to play Fresno if they're touring the West Coast. Awesome guys!

They've been around since the the mid-nineties. They are a band cursed with Slipknot comparisons despite being around longer. They were in a bit of a feud with Slipknot for several years (mostly just the fans actually) until the death of Paul Grey. That was all due to Slipknot's image and member lineup seeming eerily similar to Mushroomhead's. I've always thought their masks were much cooler than Slipknot's and musically they sound very different. I would say they have a bit of an Industrial Metal sound.

And referring to your comment I always heard how Slipknot took Mushroom Head's gimmick and heard how Slipknot couldn't get a record deal until after they got the 'look'. I could be wrong but I always heard that.

Thanks! They seemed a little under-represented on this site so i figured i'd contribute!
as for your comment, I think it was a combination of the masks and getting a new vocalist (Corey Taylor) that finally landed Slipknot a deal. Say what you want about Slipknot, but Corey's vocals brought that band to life. I personally don't think Mushroomhead had any influence on Slipknot's image though.
