Skyclad - Promo release in Quality Street tin!

Now I have to say I had my doubts about the physical existence of this release up until recent times, when I came across a couple of photos of it online (at Discogs, and on this very site). Even so, I'd never had a sniff of finding one despite extensive searching until only this month when perusing a trade-list from a metal enthusiast in Warrington, UK (of all places) and BANG! there it was, listed for sale or trade!

So I pounced, and this is what I've received. It looks correct in the sense of being comparable to the couple of others I've seen: the tin itself looks right, the disc had a few marks as it had been knocking about at the bottom of the tin but mercifully the round promo inlay is pretty clean. Is it the real deal though..?

The story goes that to promote Skyclad's "Irrational Anthems" album back in 1996, and specifically the standout track "Inequality Street", some bright spark at the label thought to send out some promo CD's in small tins of the longstanding UK confectionery called Quality Street. Clever thinking!

I read that the original promo from Massacre came with the chocolates too, but thank goodness those vintage treats were missing from this tin!

Not for sale or trade

Well if you think it's legitimate, then I'm sold! A bizarre but clever promo - I wonder what the Quality Street brand made of it all...! Very pleased to have found this, as I doubt I'll come across another
