Of course! Dark Side of the Moon (1973) is very relaxed, not THAT psychedelic, a bit easier to get into. Meddle (1971) is definitely one of my favorites from the band. A Saucerful of Secrets (1968) is very psychedelic. Actually my favorite period of the band is from 1968 to 1973, the older the more more psychedelic, so you might want to start with Dark Side..., Meddle or Obscured by Clouds (1972). A highlight for me is their live in Pompeii recording, there's a cool DVD you can watch on YouTube about that whole recording. Hope i could help you a lil bit...
Just saw the Pompeii videos are either taken down from YouTube or are only Audio. So, if you're interested, here you can watch the whole thing: http://www.veoh.com/m/watch.php?v=e10283032AgTW2q It's cool/ more experimental versions of album songs & some excerpts from the recording session + interviews. Pretty interesting.
Alright, thank you! When I first listened to dark side of the moon it confused me a little haha. I happen to like the piper at the gates of dawn though, so I'm looking forward checking a saucerful of secrets and meddle as well as the other you mentioned, out. :)
Btw, the concert looks so timeless and damn I love those visuals!
If you like the Piper album you should maybe start with Saucerful or the Live in Pompeii video. These visuals are also featured in the Pompeii video. I added a link in the above comments...
Yeah check out the Pompeii video, it's this video that got me hooked on them, seeing it in the Pink Floyd coffeeshop in Amsterdam, somewhen around 1993/94... ;)
Yes, definitely good times haha!! And man, so long ago already... can't believe it! It was the time I was looking for something new, something else than extreme Metal only.
Indeed... it makes me a little sad when I think too much about it...
Anyway, you must have acquired a pretty diverse musical taste over the time I guess?
Yes! I listen to all kinds of stuff, apart from Rap/Hip Hop, Charts Pop & Volksmusik! In that stuff I'll never get into haha!! But I'm pretty openminded when it comes to music. You miss out too much great stuff when you only stick to Metal!
Agreed! There's a great variety of good and interesting stuff out there - and also not only music wise. Today I found something new for me again, thanks to you my friend!
Such an amazing album! I've got all of their albums and then some, Some live, alternatively releases, docos on them! Pink Floyd are one of my favourite bands, Each album gives you something different that's for sure.
I've been thinking of doing a cover of Goodbye Cruel World on my album (Concept album about death).
Thanks Nater! I agree, each of their albums give you something different. Which one is your favorite? I'm mainly into their old stuff!
There are some interesting Metal covers around, mainly for one of their greatest songs 'Set the controls for the heart of the Sun', like the ones from Tiamat, The Ruins of Beverast, 1349, Bong... Or Voivod's version of 'Astronomy Domine'.
Damn man, hard question!!! I love them all for different reasons, Wish You Were Here I hold in high regard, I really like that Shine On You Crazy Diamond is about the late Syd Barrett (RIP), I actually think he was a very talented guy despise the excessive drug use, When I listen to that album I kind of think of the love ones past and present and silently tip my hat, The Wall is a masterpiece and the film is just so out there it goes with the music so well!! The Piper at the Gates of Dawn is just amazing, Interstellar Overdrive takes you on a journey without leaving the room. I had David's solo album On an Island playing in the car the other day, Such an amazing album. Dark Side of the Moon is just one of those albums where all members involved were focused and made something that will outlast the human race!
du kannst mit mir auch deutsch reden. Viele Metal Fans hören auch Radio :) Ich hab auch unendlich viele Rap Scheiben. Pink F. is genial. Ich liebe das Album "The Wall".

Psychedelic stuff, you probably should smoke a fat blunt & give em another try lol! That's the way this album sounds best! ;)

Yeah I'm listening to it right now and I thought the same! Makes me wanna trip hahaha :)
Well, I really like psychedelic music, but I'm not very familiar with Pink Floyd. Any suggestions which albums I should give a listen?
