all the hits together.... hehe Gimme three steps... that's funny: one of my pal's wife hates country, southern rock, Lynyrd and anything related.... just put this song up, and she's immediately heading for the 2th floor.... so, if we want a mens-only party.... hahaha

"Gimmie Three Steps" is my all time fave Skynyrd song
gloriousdeath
yep, we like it too.... and she hates us for that hahahaha

I've had this album since it came out in 1979. It seems like many heavy metal fans also like Lynyrd Skynyrd too, which is cool. The plane that crashed with Skynyrd aboard was deemed unsafe by Aerosmith a few months earlier. Yep, Aerosmith said "No" to the plane and Skynyrd said "yes" and it crashed. I remember hearing about the crash on the radio in '77 and feeling sad.

I'm 55 years old, so I started listening to rock/hard rock/metal in 1975 before I turned 12 years old. The late '70's/early '80's were the glory years for me, musically-speaking. Going from Aerosmith and Kiss to the NWOBHM and then Accept, Warlord, Manowar, Exciter, Anvil, etc....
gloriousdeath
Ah man, i envy you...just got into it about 10 years later.... just like Vitus says...born too late haha

I was especially envious of the older kids because they got to go to concerts and stuff when I was only 12 years old. Like in 1976/1977, I was just becoming a teenager and the 17-21 year old kids got to do what they wanted and go to great concerts. I didn't quite fit in yet. I would have loved to see Aerosmith, Rainbow, Sabbath, etc... in the late '70's, but nobody I knew went to concerts yet, except for the older crowd. And then the whole disco and punk scene in the late '70's was quite annoying for heavy rock fans like me. But in the end heavy metal won the battle, because it is still around in full force.

hehe...yeah, i guess we all have that kind of memories and stories....Slayer did their Hell awaits tour... they were playing next city in a small club ( Vera/ Groningen)...and my parents didn't allow me to go because they thought i was too young...still bothers me till today hahahaha

I saw Megadeth/Slayer in 1984 in Brooklyn, and Metallica/Venom on Staten Island in 1983 before Kill em All was released. I saw Metallica/Raven/Anthrax in New York in 1984. And Motorhead/Mercyful Fate/Exciter toured in 1984 in Dallas. No wonder I have tinnitus now.
But even better was Iron Maiden opening for Judas Priest in 1981 in New York, and Manowar in Queens, NY in December 1983.
gloriousdeath
Damn, you really have tinnitus ?? That sucks...been frontrow for Motorhead many times, so i'm lucky i don't have it....you saw a lot of the classic tours, really cool...great mentioning Mercyful Fate; will see King Diamond next week at Dokk'em Open Air.....

King Diamond lives a few miles from me in Frisco, Texas.

Really ??? That's cool man haha...really looking forward to this show...been awhile ago i saw him live !!!!
